It's been a little over a week since Golem Overlord introduced its newest feature, the daily quests.
Every day, active golemancers can receive one daily quest with various goals. The conditions for completing these quests may vary from simply claiming your stash to identifying modules, and leveling up fortification, among others. The difficulty of quests and the quality of rewards depend on the quest tiers you get.
These tiers are randomly assigned with varying odds. But the maximum tier that you can receive is based on your level of prestige. This now gives value to the long-time players who did not forget to increase their prestige levels. The prestige level is Golem Overlord's version of the proof of time concept because new players cannot easily buy their way into increasing their prestige and would have to wait a set amount of days in order to level it up.
Shard Utility
What's great about the daily quests is that they bring utility to the very scarce yet overlooked shard tokens. In order to unlock the reward of the quests, you'd have to claim them. And claiming rewards would require a corresponding amount of shards.
Players would then have to decide for themselves whether or not the rewards are worthy of the amount of shard tokens that they will burn. There's also a luck factor added as you will not know exactly what type of NFT you will receive from a given category such as forge sigil, tonic, etc.
Shard Demand Increase
But so far, the community's opinion on the daily quests has been most favorable. Ever since the launch, the trend of shard supply went to a decreasing pattern which means more shards are being burnt compared to the daily production amount.
For the past month, the shard production rate across all players was stable at roughly 40,000 shards per day. But since the introduction of daily quests, the demand has risen sharply with some peak days seeing more than 100,000 shards being burnt.
And this is what is good about this new feature. It helps make the game fun and not too monotonous like the other farming/mining games. Not knowing what your next daily quest will be, what will be your rewards, chasing the shard burn leaderboard, it keeps the player experience fresh and exciting. Together with the tutorial quests, this is something that even new onboarding players will certainly enjoy.
As I said before in my previous posts, I believe Golem Overlord is setting a new standard when it comes to Hive projects and the blockchain-based games genre as a whole. It has come a long way from the initial release and I am definitely looking forward to the next phases of this game.
