Lately, I have come across a simple formula to excel at the workplace; it's not playing by the team or working cohesively for a better outcome, it's simple: "work on yourself". I understand it depends on what and where you work, but it seems applicable to anyone's progression.
There is one type of people who work on their own and seek cooperation when needed. As a result, the outcome is obtained for what is basically needed. These are mostly hardworking people. The other one I have seen is seeking cooperation with work; they try to make things easier for others as well. And, as a result, they end up working on themselves, and if taken negatively, they are considered presumed to be sabotaging other people's work. So, these can come across both positive and negative, considering what the other person would reciprocate during the work process. And, there are wanna be supervisors, who tell you what to do, and make themselves smart off things, nor do they cooperate, nor do they work hard, but they just tell you what to do while you and they are in the same positions. Some audacious people.
I realized the progression and balance at work are likely to occur when I make a balance of the first two types and ignore the third kind. The balance at work comes together when I work on myself, keep working, and, whenever needed, bring my expertise to assist whoever needs mutual help. And I realized that when someone comes to you for cooperation, it's because they believe you and that you can actually help.
Human behaviors and minds are dynamic, and the only way to ascertain true work value is to do what needs to be done, and you have fun with it. I understand someone would collide with your path when you are happy doing stuff, either positively or negatively. But as you get along with your true self, you will be able to differentiate distance from time.
It's okay to be you.
