Tokens lost on a dead Beacon Chain?
I don't know if I wrote about this a handful of months ago, but I was much annoyed when I discovered that the AVA (Travala) that I had put for "safe keeping" on Trust wallet got locked up, because Beacon Chain sunsetted and I missed the migration window. Trust wallet didn't support the automatic swap, so I was screwed. At the time, it was a fair amount of value worth, and I was pretty pissed. You might have noticed though that AVA over the last few days went through a bit of a surge, peaking around 500% up on where it was a week ago, which was already up on where it was when I lost mine to the end of Beacon Chain.
As you can imagine, I am annoyed.
Anyone else in a similar boat?
Because there might be some good news, which is why I am writing this post today.
After chatting on the AVA Telegram, which was the first time I have ever used Telegram, I was able to get a link to some more documentation that led me to a possible solution, which was released today.
Did you like what I did there with the image?
Anyway...
A Token Recovery Tool DApp was launched which should migrate the tokens from the dead Beacon Chain, over to a BNB Smart Chain (BSC) address, which I did today and for once, it was pretty fucking easy - which was a pleasant change. For anyone who missed the migration window and wants to recover lost tokens, it is worth looking into.
And there we have it.
7 days is a long time in crypto, especially as the price is bouncing around and who knows how long that is going to last for, but at least I have a chance of recovering my lost tokens that I have been holding for years now. Still, even if the price slides, having the tokens is still more valuable to me than having them locked on a dead chain. And, if the price does stay up, it gives me the opportunity to trade for some more, or sell for some profit.
It is good to have options.
I don't know how many hold AVA, and there are probably fewer holding now since the price jumped in the last few days, but hopefully for those who might have screwed the pooch and missed the migration window like me, there is a chance that this will help you recover your funds. As you can see from the screen shot above, I actually had some BNB and USDT locked as well, but those amounts were much smaller, so I had written them off without the emotional pain of loss. Though, it would be comparative, because I had far more AVA there.
In about seven days from now, we'll know if this worked.
Good luck!
