The middle East is a complex place! Oil has alot to do with it. I have worked in several oil rich countries, Saudi Arabia, UAE Kuwait etc and it is a case of the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
Violence is never an answer but it seems as you say that soft and hard force are here to stay!
