Credit cards are typically seen as a bad idea. You get into debt with them. You pay exorbitant interest. You get tempted to purchase things you don't need.
I will agree that in the hands of someone who isn't disciplined they can be a truly terrible idea. However, used properly they can save a lot of money.
Just today I got a 'special offer' with my Triangle Mastercard which I just had to look at and go....Wow... That's one I just can't pass up.
Spend $30 and get $10 back? What's the catch? I can just easily go and get some gasoline for my Van and spend that much money *easily*.
Time to go to the fine print and see what that little cross is telling me.
Limited time.
...no problem.

Wow... it really is that easy. Just click to signup and make a purchase.
And this isn't even just an isolated case.
On my American Express card I just got this offer:
and since Mr. Lube is the most convenient and least expensive near where I live that's a valuable offer.....if I needed an oil change.
My son just got a $150 offer off his trip to Japan. He found the best price on a ticket and was about to book. I checked his offers quickly and there as an offer off United Airlines (the cheapest flight he found). So his best price just got $150 cheaper.
Take home message.
IF you have a credit card see if it offers special offers. Don't buy something just because of an offer but....if it is something you would buy anyways take advantage of a nice little perk.
It can really make your day.
Just like me getting $10 for filling up my gas tank.
