According to cryptocurrency data firm Chainalysis, around 20 percent of all the existing Bitcoin - which is worth around 140 billion USD - is currently in digital wallets whose owners have lost access to.
Some of these people spend days and nights in frustration, trying to figure out ways to recover access to their wallters, that, in some cases, hold hundreds of million dollars in Bitcoin.
I can almost relate to that because, after my first attempt to get into blockchain based social networks, I took a 2 year break and when I decided to come back I had no idea where I had stored my keys. I didn't have nearly as much money as some of the people above but it was very frustrating nonetheless and I felt completely powerless over the whole situation.
Fortunately I was able to find my keys and resume my activity on the network.
Don't forget the first rule of Hive people! Store your keys safely!
