- 50/50 split of rewards is ok,
- Free Downvoting may be also fine in order to avoid abusers...
But, what about this stupid Rewarding curve?
I don't think this is really a good measure to avoid abusers because actually is affecting indirectly the level of engagement on our platform.
Engagement and interaction between us must also be promoted and having such a penalty on the rewards for posts or comments upvoted below, currently, the 1.5 $ threshold is somehow stupid...
If I want to reward my commenters why I should not do it?
Well, the answer is clear, because while doing so, you lose part of the portion of the curation rewards while wasting your Voting Power so... We have to think twice or triple if I should vote a comment or better try to upvote a recent post instead and so get better rewarded...
This is stupid, and, obviously, I am not thinking twice every time I want to upvote any of my commenters.
Instead, what I am doing is a mental process trying to evaluate if the received comment is good enough for my own standards and reply and upvote consequently, that's what I am doing.
Maintaining this penalty does not help at all for having a good image for the outsiders.
We are a social platform, not all the people here is a genial blogger or content creator but there are many that comes for the interaction.
We have DOWNVOTES, we can fight against abusers on comments as well there.
Maybe some can think that if we flatten the curve, the self-voting times will come back again and some may upvote their own comment willing to get the most of it.
The solution might be very easy in this case, AVOID SELF-VOTING at least on the own comments... easy-peasy!
Engagement means interacting each other, not only upvoting but also commenting replying and rewarding those who engage.
Yes man, we are SOCIAL, and so, ENGAGEMENT MUST be rewarded as well.
Enough for today :-)
