On September 28, Filecoin officially released a blog stating that it will gradually launch the Filecoin mainnet through protocol upgrades and status transitions. Filecoin mainnet will be officially launched on epoch 148888, which is expected to reach this period around October 15, and then the monitoring and troubleshooting period will start to ensure normal operation of the network after the transition, and the space race test network will continue to operate. Filecoin officials will also launch a week-long celebration of the Filecoin mainnet launch from October 19 to October 23.
The following is the full text of the blog:

In recent months, the Filecoin network has made tremendous progress:
- Core protocol functionality: In August, we completed the second phase of the mainnet that proved a reliable configuration, launched drand mainnet with partners such as Cloudflare and Ethereum, published articles on in-depth interpretations of the economics of Filecoin encryption, and delivered the entire functionality, can be used to implement lotus 0.5. 0 on Filecoin launched on the mainnet - not only supports storage and mining, but also supports storing and retrieving transactions.
- Ecological development: At least 85 organizations are currently collaborating on Filecoin networking applications, development tools, infrastructure, etc. The Filecoin Ignite Project hackathon series of events and accelerators attracts thousands of community members to participate in learning, building and launching their projects on the Filecoin network. Activities include the HackFS hackathon (hosted by EthGlobal), the Spark University hackathon (hosted by En [code] Club), Apollo (hosted by Gitcoin) and Filecoin Launchpad (hosted by Tachyon) - together more than 230 have been developed on the new Filecoin Project. and more than 1,000 talented developers.
- Storage users: As part of the Space Race: Slingshot, many storage users have landed on the Filecoin network - including users like Slate, allowing users and their apps to save and retrieve files. This user is based on the Filecoin developer API and tools such as Fleek's Storage Daemon, Textile's Powergate, and the upcoming Filecoin retrieval service supported by IPFS.
- Storage miners: In the last four weeks, more than 400 miners from 34 countries and territories on six continents uploaded 325+ PiB of storage capacity to the Filecoin network. This is enough to hold 90 million 1080p movies, more than 1,400 copies of Wikipedia, or 7 times the total written work of human society since ancient times. This is indeed an extraordinary achievement. Never in history has the Internet had a community able to coordinate such large storage capacities in an untrusted distributed storage network.

Transition to mainline ignition
Today, as we enter the ignition phase of the mainnet and are ready for the Filecoin mainnet launch, I will be happy to share with you the phases and schedule for the Filecoin launch. Starting a blockchain is a complex and lengthy process. Like many other networks (such as Polkadot, NEAR, etc.), Filecoin uses a segmented method to start the main network, and join various groups and communities over a period of time. On the network until the main network starts.
In the next few weeks, various groups within the Filecoin community - including miners, users, custodians, applications, network services, etc., will join the network before the main network launches. This pre-launch phase is called the main grid ignition phase, which gives network participants time to initialize, study, set up the system and optimize their deployment. We've all counted down the mainnet launch, but this doesn't mean that all the work is done. We still need to do a lot of prep work to ensure that the network gets off to a great start: Storage miners: Continue to add storage to the network during the ignition phase, and prepare for the main network start-up operations, and perform stress tests on storage and transaction retrieval.
- Users & Applications: Participating in our ongoing space race-Slingshot, the goal is to use Filecoin's distributed storage capabilities to provide usable and flexible data storage.
- Custodians & Green Partners: Use this time to connect operations and stakeholders to the network.
- SAFT holder: Please check CoinList and your preferred guard email to learn how to set up on the network prior to mainnet ignition and mainnet transition phases. If you encounter any problems, please contact the @ coinlist.coinvestor-support @ protocol.ai team.
- Implementation plan developer: Strengthen testing, enhancement, and interoperability between different Filecoin implementations, including lotus [PL], forest [ChainSafe], fuhon [Soramitsu] and go-filecoin [IPFSForce].
The main grid ignition phase is also a good time to consolidate the Filecoin community's participation in network improvement and decision making. Storage miners, community leaders, developers, users, and ecological partners can participate in network upgrades through the open Filecoin Upgrade Process, and improve through cross-discussion of implementation plans for core development meetings that are held every two weeks, as well as through inter-miners Consensus approving new changes . Filecoin is full of functionality, but we hope the community will continue to develop and improve the Filecoin network through continuous software updates after the launch of the mainnet.
Mainnet launch transition phase
In the past month, the entire Filecoin ecosystem has been completely focused on the space race - our multi-track testnet prize competition. This is a key stage for the Filecoin project to adapt and upgrade the network to prepare for the mainnet launch - the entire ecosystem has accumulated valuable operating knowledge and experience through large-scale real-time stress testing. In the space race, more than 500 miners land more than 325 PiB of storage on Orbital Burn. Among them, 265 user applications perform more than 40,000 storage and retrieval transactions on Slingshot, and cooperate on network functionality and security. Sex and flexibility have been thoroughly tested. We are excited to start the Filecoin network based on the solid foundation of the space race. Everyone has invested a lot of work (power and machinery!) To increase storage capacity to make the Filecoin network safer and more distributed. Early miners invested a lot of money finding vulnerabilities, accumulating operational knowledge, and laying the groundwork for the network to invest a lot of packaging and storage hardware. The space race test network will continue to operate and will gradually enter the main network through protocol upgrades and state transitions over the next 3 weeks instead of setting up from scratch (this will lose all storage capacity). After the mainnet launched, we still need to make some fixes and a state transition, but we will build it in serial increments, not hard reset. If you are a miner and want to join the Filecoin network, the second round of the space race: Orbital Burn is the best way to get you started now!
Countdown to mainnet launch The culmination of all our efforts is coming. Filecoin mainnet will be officially launched on epoch 148888! We hope to arrive at this epoch around October 15th, and then we will start a monitoring and troubleshooting period to ensure normal operation of the network after the transition (as expected). In a few days, we will have a Filecoin mainnet launch: a week-long Filecoin launch event from 19 October to 23 October.
From cutting-edge cryptographic research to complex protocol design and development discussions, to many sleepless nights during real-time network debugging during the space race - we've created amazing results together in the last 3 years. Starting a blockchain is like launching a software rocket, requiring the entire interstellar community to work together to achieve this goal. Thank you for participating in this epic journey! We know that the launch of the Filecoin mainnet is an achievement to look forward to, so we wanted to give the community time to make it more meaningful. Are you looking forward to Filecoin? This week is the perfect time to have online meetings, meetings and events to celebrate the launch and explore the future of the Filecoin network together.
If you want to host a local party or event (where permitted by regional health and hygiene regulations), please contact us!
Planning to launch a new product, application or service around Filecoin? The mainnet launch period is a great time to highlight the amazing projects that joined the network! Consider posting at a meeting or party during the launch, or hosting your own launch event! If we can help promote your event or share your story, please reach out to us at contact@filecoin.io.
Looking forward to the future after launch
Like any rocket launch, take off is only the beginning. The rocket's maximum dynamic pressure is after leaving the ground, not before.
Likewise, our biggest challenge as a community is that we are committed to improving protocols, supporting more demanding use cases, and adding new features to deployments. In order to withstand the post-launch pressures of the mainnet, we must plan our upgrade paths carefully, respond to issues dynamically, and form diverse communities to jointly define the spirit, culture and future of the Filecoin network. We have a solid launch pad, and now it's up to us to decide how to advance in the starry sky.
Building this rocket with everyone is a huge feat - let's get ready for the launch!
The Filecoin mainnet is about to launch, and the last chance to participate in the first mine before the mainnet goes live is on Mars Cloud Mine.
Mars Cloud Mine consecutively launched 1475, Space-time Cloud, Force Zone, and other high-quality computing power products in June. With its platform advantages, it provides users with services such as strict receiving machine, one-click purchase, daily distribution and one-click flash conversion. Compliance can be trusted, enabling users to enjoy the benefits.
