Just finished ordering my monthly dosage of silver and I came across a really interesting piece.
It had a stupid high price so I didn't buy it, but I thought it was odd enough to make a post about it.
I guess it's just the perfect coin if you are a vampire hunter 😂
I mean...it has silver...and it has holy water 😂
This is the coin I am talking about:
So, this is a commemorative coin minted in 2008 from a country I had never heard of before called Palau. Turns out it's a nation in the middle of nowhere comprised by about 340 islands with a population of less then 20 thousand. Meh, who cares
Anyways, back to the coin.
As you can see it comes with a vile that supposedly contains holy water:
The island of Palau issued a silver dollar coin in 2007, carrying the image of the Virgin Mary and a tiny vial containing holy water from the Grotto in Lourdes, France. That following year, the country issued a second series of coins to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Apparitions of the Virgin Mary at the Grotto source
When it comes to composition, it's made off silver plated copper-nickel, with a weight of 27 g.
As you may have noticed from the pics above, the coin has a denomination of 1 USD, as the country didn't have an official currency prior to its independence and still doesn't have one:
Palau was part of the United Nations Trust Territory of the Pacific, administered by the United States, following World War II. In 1978 Palau began the process of independence and gained it in 1994. The United States recognized Palau at the same time that the trusteeship ended. source
All in all, a really unique coin! But I am definitely don't pay the stupid high prices they are asking for it. Feel free to gift me one though if you like 😇😂
