The Aptos Foundation collaborates with Jambo to empower emerging markets through Web3. Their goal is to support the developing economies across Africa, Southeast Asia, and Latin America.
Partnership
Aptos Foundation, is an independent Layer 1 blockchain platform focused on safety and scalability driving growth. Jambo is an African tech startup. Both partner with the same goal of making accessible the web 3 technology and crypto to anyone despite their geographic location and economical situation.
The product they are launching is the JamboPhone, a $99 gaming phone with Android 13. It's already available at 40 countries.
The phone comes with preinstales apps that give access to the Atmos ecosystem, the Petra app for instance, and the Jambo app.
JamboApp
This app offers a gamified onboarding experience, with challenges and tasks to initiate the new users to the web 3 world while they start winning rewards from day one. It also offers the opportunity to partner with other institutions and create customer campaigns.
The app looks for a seamless integration to web3, and with the JamboPhone, the app and the related ecosystem will be already set up on the phone for a better and native experience.
Petra App
Is a web 3 wallet that allows you to store assets and interact with the Aptos ecosystem. It will also be pre-downloaded to the JamboPhone. It is also available as a Chrome Extension, you can see more on Petra Docs.
This launching was announced on February 15th, we are yet to see how the sales go. I have to admit that the idea sounds great, and the applications look legit, the quest based JamboApp is very interesting, but $99 is still not accessible fora big part of the target audience. Being it a gaming phone, it certainly is way cheaper than other similar ones, but $99 is more than 3 months of salary for many people from the target locations.
We have yet to see it's effectiveness and if paying for it will be worth it by generating rewards withing the same ecosystem.
Hope you liked it, until the next time
