During the week, I attended a conference which focused on business and entrepreneurial skill development. It is a yearly event and this time, some successful entrepreneurs and impact project builders were asked to tell their stories on how they built their business from ideation or scratch to their present level. It was very intriguing listening to various speakers do justice in sharing their experiences while emphasizing on the conference theme - "Stretch"
Without a doubt, each of us have a unique story within. There is a personal narrative that shapes who we are and guides us on our life's journey. These stories are not just a collection of events; they are the very essence of our existence., we could call it the pieces that make up our whole. Thanks to many who have documented their stories in one or more forms that has become a reference for others with related inclinations.
Every story has a perspective. Sharing your story is more than just communicating a chronicle of events; it's the lens through which you view the world. The same experience shared with lessons for you can be seen as a stumbling block or a stepping stone for another, depending on how you both choose to see and tell it. A shift in perspective can transform a seeming adversity into an opportunity as well as challenges into growth. This is what embodies "My Hive Story."
It Started out Blank!
January 24, 2018 was the date when @Tomlee walked into my little consultancy office that afternoon. We had barely knew ourselves for long. That should have been his second visit. After some long hours of random talks, he muttered "our skills would be more fitting for Steem (then)". I was curious to know, but he couldn't get the lines straight because he was barely 3 months old on Hive then. He successful helped me to sign-up and my journey to a decentralized social media engagement started. Then, it took about two weeks for a new account key to be delivered to your mail.
Back on March 2, my account was up and all blank. Nothing was in there except for the 5 Steem power delegation that new accounts received. I knew nobody on the platform except him. I followed him and others as he instructed, tried making a few comments and 3 days after, I made my first post and got some $0.22 on it. That was strange. Before then, I've had several failed attempts trying to earn money online.
There were no communities, everything was just clumped together. I did some random clash on any author I could find. I was desperate to learn about what made Hive different from Facebook, Twitter and other social platforms I knew. I took a break from my work, gave myself 3 weeks just to read and understand what blockchain, Bitcoin and all of that was. I didn't want to get jilted.
I Failed and I Learnt
At the beginning, I made my errors and missed out on some things. That mess has to be a part of one's story. Know that your story is the masterpiece that you paint upon it. It's not about being a flawless artist; it's about the freedom to create. You have to develop the courage to embrace imperfections, and the determination to make your story uniquely your own. I took it upon myself to learn and do right the things I failed at first.
Embracing imperfections is a critical component of you growth story. I felt deficient about my writing style. I remember when a Utopian moderator @Gra had to mentor me to put up a content that should have earned $30 them, yet, I could not put up with the corrections on the post and eventually couldn't submit. I felt like it was not a fitting place for me as I had to made a huge adjustment in my writing style. However, it is important to remember that there is no story without its share of setbacks, failures, and mistakes. However, it's often in these moments of imperfection that our most profound lessons are learned. You've got to embrace the chapters where you stumbled and fell, for they are the ones that show your resilience, determination, and capacity for growth.
Connecting with Others
After 3 months of consistent engagement and learning, I was able to connect and started making friends. I participated in contests and came through successful. I was able to find a favourite niche that has always been changing from time to time since then, but it seems I'd found a home with @Leofinance, thanks to @Taskmaster4450 that motivated me.
Learn has been my watchword here and I'm still learning. Thanks to the technology of the Hive blockchain that allows for innovations and upgrades. Connecting with great minds here form several niches, background and perspective has helped me to think wide and out of the box. However, keeping a close watch at my long term goal is key.
Creating a Legacy
As I keep engaging the Hive blockchain and its evolving usecases, my dream here gets clearer. I will build on here someday. Already starting a programming class and I will be following through gently. Every tiny step is valuable for me and it all adds up. I know I will leave a tangible legacy here someday.
Legacies are an important part of our stories. Our stories should extend beyond our individual lives. The legacy we leave behind, the impact we have on the world, and the inspiration we provide to future generations should be the marks that trail after us. Glad I've successfully on boarded many here. Some are doing exceptionally well, while others are yet to know they're sitting on a goldmine.
Put Together...
My Hive story is a tapestry woven with the threads of my experiences, choices, and dreams here on Hive blockchain. It's my unique narrative. Yours too is. Take charge of your narrative. Define your values, set your goals, and write your own script. Be the author of your destiny, not just a character in someone else's tale. There's more than you know and can do. Don't be limited!
