I am starting to write this article having only 1 hour left of premium in me. I will complete this article when premium is bought.
For this year(2024) of inleo premium, the cost is 100 HDB which is roughly equivalent to $100, meaning I will get 2 months free compare to the original 10 HBD per month which I have being paying since the beginning.
Moving to a yearly subscription makes sense for the team because they will get a more consistent number for premium user that won't change every month. We will be able to see how many account are committed and funded for the year.
I believe this move will increase the commitment for people that are able to buying it because since it is already paid, you have more of an incentive to cover the cost back during the coming year which for me should end in June 2025.
In term of practicality, it is easier then accumulating HDB every month and try not to forget to do the transaction when your current month is over.
Getting 100 HBD
As you can see I've managed to gain close to 35 HBD for the last month of premium, since I get my payout 50/50 on my posts and threads, this means that I have made over $50 as an author on inleo/hive this month.
25 HBD X 2 =50, since I got a 10 HBD prize from my participation in a challenge earlier this year I deducted it.
I got the money last month since they were trying to buy me premium but I would always outrun them to it, can't live without this subscription anymore 😀
Curation rewards
On top of that I do get some more curation reward because I upvote more people thought the inleo front-end, this app was a revelation to me and really helped me bootstrap my activity on Hive were I was more of a passive investor waiting to see how it would go rather then people an active part of the ecosystem, write stuff, engage and use those apps develop on top of this blockchain which is turning to being a great experiment. We are still here after all those years and it keeps getting easier.
According to https://hivestats.io/ my curation APR is around 9% which actually is lower then the APR I could get delegating to leo.voter but I like to be able to direct part of the inflation to reward people putting effort in this so I need to keep some HP for myself.
Buy some HBD
Well I still have to wait another hour before posting this article 😅
Since the Leo team released https://leodex.io/ on Maya protocol, we have a new platform to buy HBD through swap from outside crypto like BTC and ETH. Know that this is an option if you need to buy HBD to buy a premium subscription.
For me, this time I will be using some liquid Hive that I keep in my wallet for opportunities, I am trying to stay above 10% in liquid funds but the rest is stacked in Hive Power and more then half is delegated to
If you wanted to covert USDT it would look like that on leodex:
At the moment we can't sell HIVE for HBD via leodex so I won't be using it for this transaction. I believe this is because it is on the same chain but information needed here.
Swapping Hive for HBD
I am using the engine market to sell HIVE for HBD using peakd which is apparently connected to https://hivehub.dev/market/swap now.
It is accessible through the your wallet on the market tab.
I will be swapping 260 Hive which is equivalent to my curation reward in the last 30 days.
I can say that my Hive activity did covert the full cost of my yearly subscription to inleo which I think will be self funded next year's premium season of 2025-2026.
The swap is done and I am waiting for my premium to expire in order to purchase th yearly subscription. Another 30 mins to go.
Executing the buy order
The final part of the article where I show you the new page where you can buy either a month worth of premium or go directly for one year.
T+10 mins after my premium expired and waiting for the opportunity to renew .
T+180 mins renewal is now possible on the UI
I am now posting this article in full, most of the works was done alongside the writing so I could get the proper screenshots at the right time.
This kind of raised a question in me about where are the images stored on inleo and what would happen if those servers are lost in the future? Should we consider moving to IPFS or more decentralized like system? Is it already the case?
Those are questions for another time where I might investigate that.
And it's done, waiting for the checkmark back and this time for good.
Words of the end
Well it looks like the team fixed that bug because I got the checkmark within minutes of paying. Good job!
Anyway, happy premium and I wish you a very good day. See you around the block!
