Continuing on from yesterday, today ill reveal the second item on my #12daysofchristmas wishlist...
The rules are simple, and I feel this is a great way to get to know community members and thier personal preferences in coins and all things shiny!!
It maybe too late for a certain SecretSanta to pick your favourite coin out this year, but im pretty sure that it may stand them in good stead to come revisit these blogs, this time next year.
Without further a do, lets crack on with day 2 of my 12 days of Christmas wishlist.
Lets not beat about the bush, who doesnt love a cute and cuddly Panda?? When i fist started out on my stacking adventure, way back in 2015, my plan was to primarily sta k for weight, but that went straight out the window once i really discovered the variety of designs available.
Although the premiums were high, I fell in love with the annually altering designs of this series, and began searching for coins on the secondsry market, at prices i felt comfortable in paying. Some of the Pandas, especially the real esrly ones, sell for crazy stupid money, but the mid-teens (2013+), could still be bought with a premium i was happy to accept.
I started buying, and managed to accumulate a rather decent stack of Pandas. I picked up several of each year, 2013 onwards, and even a few gold gilded versions.
A big switch in my stacking preference then kicled back in in 2018, and it was all about the weight once again. Cute designs and limited editions hadnt been completely dismissed, but I stopped buying Pandas altogether. Another contributing factor to me no longer buying Chinese Pandas, was the fact the Chinease mint reduced the weight of these coins from 1ozT to just 30. The loss of a few grams may not seem like much, but add to the fact the premiums were beginning to get a little astronomical, you can understand why my purchasing of these coins wavered!
Thats basically it.... Day 2 is any 2020 or later Chinese Panda that may kick start my love for the series again. The prices of these vary, and by the looks of it, they still carry that crazy premium! I guess other stackers must love the designs as much as i do.
Its still a bit of a jump from day 1 to day 2 in price, with a second hand 2020 Panda fetching around the $35 price range. Which still leaves me with a lot to play with in the coming days and weeks, as i finish of my 12 days of Christmas challenge.
