Good day everyone! Zak here from South Africa.
I have been back and active on the blockchain now for the last 2 years and 2 months and one big part of that I have sought to do is to on-board more people to Hive, to educate them and help them to grow, and to create communities on Hive that will become the vehicle for those groups to find success.
In this, I find not only personal success, but the growth I see in others also gives me satisfaction! I suppose that doing this is sort of an Ikigai state for me, but not yet so profitable that it carries my budget.
Do I love doing it? Definitely. Am I good at it? I will explain below. (I might not feel like it but I seem to have succeeded in a lot mor than most).
Finally, does the world need it? I believe so strongly. So call it a Mission or a Passion. Either way, this is a journey.
Let me explain.
2022 and 2023 Recap
I have had some good success on Hive onboarding new users. I then teach and train these people as a group. Like anyone who onboards people, many of those I onboard leave the blockchain and become dormant.
Yet some have stayed.
In these two years I have onboarded the following (currently active)people whom I shall divide into three broad categories:
Those that have surpassed me:
One person here stands out a bit above the rest since Jasper overtook my HP value in around 8-9 months. Solid work, he learned everything he could from me and then went on his own journey. His content is great and he chose to power up 100% until he reached Dolphin status!
The Minnows:
(my wife)
(my friend)
This group is still small and I would like to see more people in this category. Both over 1,000HP, nearly double Minnow status.
The (currently active) Redfish:
(my friend)
(Claire's friend)
(Claire's friend)
(A friend of a friend of a friend!)
(Warhammer interest friend)
(My daughter)
(My daughter's friend)
(My son)
(Friend of a friend of a friend of a friend!)
(Friend from Warhammer)
(Warhammer interest friend)
(Friend of a friend of a friend of a friend's son!)
(My son)
Ok, my sons are not really active at this time, but in a general sense, there are 16 accounts on Hive that are running around all doing their own thing and I am proud to say that out of all the people I have onboarded in the last two years, this is quite a high percentage that have stayed!
Goal Concept - Why do I do it?
Having a community of people grow and support one another is better than just becoming strong on my own or being supported by only one person.
An enriched community is better for the world than being an enriched person in a poor world.
I believe that it is possible to bring the distribution of HP to a more stable and mature level as time goes on by seeing more accounts in the higher tiers of ownership. The blockchain is young. Just by having a decent amount of Redfish turn into Minnows makes a big difference.
Goals for 2024
In a nutshell, I do not think I will focus too much this year in onboarding. I seem to onboard a certain amount of people in any case passively.
My focus will instead be on newbie incubation - assisting them with growth.
There are at LEAST 4 accounts on the Redfish list that can reach Minnow status this year! That would make me very happy. At the same time, I am only moving to Dolphin status myself during this year and I am looking forward to that!
The other accounts on the Redfish list can also get there or at least get closer to that goal.
To that end I run a teaching class to guide the Redfish with certain tips, tricks and directions.
I have also been including other newbies in these classes that I did not onboard, but whom I do train and assist.
So the Hive Class of 2024 shall begin again and I will be looking at doing some sort of post aimed at that effect every week!
Thank you for reading!
