Last week in London, Bonhams held its famous Bond Street Sale with many English cars including 11 Aston Martin dating from 1930 to 1986. But there were also some very nice Italian models offered for sale (Bugatti, Maserati, Lancia...) . Here is a summary of the most beautiful cars sold during this day.
Aston Martin from 1930...
1930 Aston Martin 1½ Litre International sold for $US 180,000
... to 1986
1986 Aston Martin V8 Volante sold for $US 139,000
What is your favorite years for Aston Martin? For men, nothing beats the 60's and 70's but I think I'm not original 😀 considering the most expensive car sold during this sale (see below).
If you want to see some of the final price of the cars presented on my blog, here's a follow-up :
| Model | Estimated Price | Sold | Post |
|---|---|---|---|
| Maserati Khamsin Coupé | $US 150,000 | $US 157,000 | More |
| Aston Martin DB6 Volante | $US 550,000 | $US 604,000 | More |
| Bugatti Type 35B | $US 430,000 | $US 474,000 | More |
Let's start with the top 3 most expensive cars :
1968 Aston Martin DB6 Volante sold for $US 604,000

Beautiful lines for this convertible aka gentleman’s express, 40 examples produced from 1965 to 1969 with coachwork designed by Carrozzeria Touring. More pics and info on my post 1968 Aston Martin DB6 Volante
1927 Bugatti Type 35B Grand Prix sold for $US 474,000

A racing car at its best during the 30's, over 1,000 victories in all competitions. More pics and info on my post Bugatti Type 35B Grand Prix
1927 Bentley 3/4½-Litre sold for $US 457,000
Another great racer from the 30's, this Bentley 3/4½-Litre Speed Model Sports was owned by one of the founder of the Bentley Driver’s Club. And the car has an impressive history on racing tracks.
I'm not expert on this period (I'm currently learning 😄) about races and cars but on Bonhams many informations about Bentley and this car.
And here are some cars that I didn't have the time to present to you but that I find interesting
1961 AC Ace 2.6-Litre Roadster sold for $US 408,000
Beautiful little beast as AC Cars presented it : "There is no doubt that the 2.6 Ace now lowered with restyled bodywork is the fastest production model ever produced by the AC Company, and maximum speeds in the 125 mph / 200 kmh range may be expected, with acceleration to match."
1964 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 Roadster sold (price ?)
This is my favorite car of this sale, I can see myself behind the wheel 😀.
The Jaguar E-Type Series 1 was presented at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show. It was an huge success with a factory price of just $6,000. Enzo Ferrari was even rumoured to have told "the most beautiful car ever made" and still now considered as the sexiest car of the 60's, I'm rather agree... On this example, I like the color scheme of this roadster finished in the famous blue lines and white racing livery.
1962 Lancia Flamina Sport 3C sold for $US 400,000
Last car but not least with this beautiful Lancia Flamina Sport 3C. It was produced from 1957 and 1970 designed by Antonio Fessia, Italian mechanical engineer working for Lancia, to replace the Lancia Aurelia. The Flaminia was presented during the Turin Motor Show in 1956 and named after the ancient Roman road from Roma to Rimini : Via Flaminia. This example has a beautiful coachwork done by Zagato :
