The LWB SsangYong Musso, the Rhino is here - A pickup truck which is now even longer, far easier now to carry a bulky payload.
The Musso is built on the Rexton platform, which you'll likely know is a rather strong SUV, therefore this transfers to make it more an SUV driving experience, now both use ladder chassis, therefore the refinement of say a BMW X5 isn't there, it is good though.
Due to it's size and weight the rear suspension has been uprated to include leaf springs, driving wise it isn't quite as refined as say the Saracen which has coilies on the back.
Both models are powered by a 2.2 litre SsangYong diesel Euro 6 engine which is 4 cylinder and turbocharged, this develops 181bhp and delivers 420nm of torque, manual or an auto is also offered.
The Rhino is 6 Speed Automatic only, a good box, as you'll see from the review.
The Musso and the Rhino are virtually the same vehicle, both double cabs, both can carry just over 1.1T on the bed, can tow 3.5T and have the same P/T offroad system.
The Rhino LWB does have a few additions including RCTA, 17"s and front parking sensors rather uselful at 5,4m long, saying that it has a rear camera too, it's decent drive, smooth changes and even has 3 driving modes including POWER, it'll tow with ease and copes with offroading - 4 Hi and 4 Lo with descent control, the video expalins more about the AWD sytem and shows what it'll cope with.
The model we had retails £29,995 exc VAT.
