Whilst out on a jaunt in the C124, whilst reversing I happened to look over my shoulder and see some rather unpleasant marks on the rear leather seats, this preyed on my mind.
Therefore once I was home went digging around some leather cleaner some microfibre cloths.
Now sometime ago I bought a number of leather cleaners everything from Meguiar's through to pound fever's finest called Astonish, having not a clue where the Meguiar's Gold Class had gone, I did find Astonish and this was the Pound Fever special will cost me the princely sum of 1 pound.
Now my initial thoughts were this is going take a bit of elbow grease, that is if this stuff even works and now to put it mildly I was astonished (clever eh).
The first job was to remove what looked like 15 year old chocolate, I didn't have much faith but it removed it absolutely no problem, I put a fair chunk on a microfibre started agitating the leather and it came off relatively easily in general, other bits were a bit stubborn but that just required more elbow grease.
After seeing what this did to that part, I was on a mission to start cleaning all the leather panels, cushions and the pull down armrest.
I cleaned up the headrest backs of the seats, as you can see from the pictures it was pretty grimy and I have only done half the car and none of the trims round the window or the roof, that's for another day.
I'm sure you'll agree from the photos that Astonish certainly was astonishing to refresh the leather and in some cases remove the shininess which appears when leather is unclean, I never knew that for years that leather should be dull.
The next job is doing the rest of the interior and removing any shininess.
...on with the W124 coupe adventures.
