This is a rare sight anywhere - but to see it up close and personal at the Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court was a real treat.
Created by Ruf Automobile, it's based on the Porsche 911, and utilises their 3.2 flat six, enlarged to a 3.4 and is highly tuned.
It also has lighter body panels, and an integrated roll cage to improve stiffness - perfect for racing.
In production from 1987 to 1996, there were 29 built from the ground up, with the rest created from modifying a 911.
The twin turbo charged six cylinder engine delivers 463BHP, 553 Newton meters of torque and the CTR can go from 0-60mph in just 3.5 seconds.
The thing about the CTR was that it could out-perform other high performance cars of the 80's and 90's, including the Testarossa, the Countach, and it could even out accelerate the 959, the F40 and the Diablo 0-100 and hit a higher speed.
The Yellowbird needs to be driven to be believed - and just check out that sound...
