There are many assumptions in your text so it is going to take some time to unpack it and analyze.
Unfortunately you probably won't read this response in its entirety, if at all, and what words will filter through this limited value set of yours will be twisted into the way you look at things.
This value sets includes the following tenets:
- Everybody is out for themselves and only out for themselves.
- If anybody claims they are altruistic then they are liars and actually underneath it all they are just out for themselves.
- The only reason anyone might be on here is to get money or to get attention or both.
- I am right and you are wrong (well that's a fun belief to work around for any genuine enquirer).
In order to actually engage in a valid enquiry - we must both put our opinions and our beliefs aside and truly listen to the other person. See things from their perspective. I do see things from your perspective. It is a common perspective. It is a perspective I have been confronted with the almost 40 years of my life. This perspective creates a blindness - a tunnel vision by which nothing else can be seen.
As has been demonstrated you do not have the capacity to see the world outside your own value set which hinges on certain experiences in your life which you have proven to yourself to be true and reliable.
This is very limited.
So as a result. I am disappointed. I am disappointed that stakeholders and community leaders on a blockchain that claim to champion freedom of speech (and yes, as you have mentioned even a form of 'equity') have extremely limited communicative capacity and a limited vision.
I'm disappointed at the lack of maturity. I expected so much more.
How is wanting to preserve the ability of the community to affect content placement me treating Hive as a investment company.
In this context and in the context of the article this reply is to and others like it you do not speak of the same 'community'. By 'community' you are referring to 'large stakeholders' because these are the actions and accounts under question and this is what you are defending.
Do they have right to control their own investment? Well they should. But this isn't an investment company remember? It's a blockchain dedicated create something much bigger than that.
If we just allow large stakeholders to decide what content gets aired on trending and what gets rewards - and just allow them to bully people according to their own tastes - all that will be left is a pit of vampires, snakes and leeches - because the rest of us left all the other places to find a place where this wouldn't happen.
The purpose of this article and others like it is to re-emphasize that there IS more than one type of value here than Proof of Stake. The threat that exists for existing investors is that if Proof of Brain is not respected in conjunction with Proof of Stake - Proof of Stake will become valueless - because the foundation of what makes Hive a great idea is the value it places on freedom, freedom of speech, equality, equal rights and yes, equity.
The value of Proof of Brain must be acknowledged and some measurement system in order to provide this much needed balance.
I would think that you would want to protect investor's interests by protecting this balance in order for Hive to expand into a platform which there is an immediate and enourmous human demand for. Hive has the opportunity to fill this hole of human demand for such a platform but not as a platform that primarily serves the interests of large stake holders and allows them to flip their dick wherever they please.
Your attitude says - if you have more - you can do what you like.
If Hive's vision remains limited to protecting this 'community' - then Hive will grow to a point and it will stagnate - cue: jump the plane and do it all again somewhere else.
This is how you and others are treating decentralized blockchain technology as just another investment company to centralize wealth.

False. These guys are not just complaining about downvoting. You'd know what's going on if you bothered to read the articles. Downvoting is the symptom - many users come to the platform for freedom of speech and equity and are leaving just as quickly as soon as they discover Hive's disease.
You're as obsessed with the pursuit of wealth as anyone.
False. That's a major assumption about someone else based on your own value set. You do not know me or have any idea about my character. Within this you expose your limited value set which you fail to see anyone else outside of.

I have walked this life and observed humans and have seen repeated behaviours. The same behaviours over and over again. You think your value set is special or unique in any way?
It is time you looked outside of your value set and actually had a good darn look at what is going on around you.
Hive is an opportunity to create something different. And yes, it will even benefit the pocket if POB is respected and given a system of value within the ecosystem! People will flock to this place in droves because it represents a true outlet where abuse is outlawed and everyone has a chance. I predict investments would increase a thousand fold if the scope of what this expansion can do is seen by the greater population.

I actually intended this in a psychological sense but it must have completely skipped you.
The voice that I have when I speak to another is as much aa a person allows themselves to listen. It is clear after your demonstration of such a limited value set that there is no listener and in this - I have no voice when I speak to you. My words do not reach you directly but through a filter of your value set - which you then interpret according to your likes and dislikes.

This is a common accusation from people against the perspective of giving Proof of Brain any true value. It's getting kind of boring. It would be nice if I wasn't speaking to a wall - then I might be able to have a discussion and engage in an inquiry of the mind.
Equality is in the ability to say what you want and not be censored and in the ability to purchase as much Hive as you want and affect the chain.
Using Proof of Stake as the key source of value is an inherent flaw in any chain that claims to be equal and promote freedom of speech.
Having more gives you more responsibility - it also makes abuse easier.
Once again you're saying - if you have more you can do what you like.
What you seem to want is called equity.
From my understanding equity was a principle that was set out for from the start. Now that the ball rolling is accumulating a bit of wealth, everyone is tightening their belts and saying - no no, we never said any of that.
It's such a predictable human behaviour pattern.
When we realise that our conditioning is flawed - if and when a new Hive is created - from the very beginning, new value sets need to be put in stone. Even the best of intentioned people when given the opportunity to be wealthy - bend to the core.
And thats a big no-no.

Once again, you have exposed your value set - repeating it again and again.
What you have and the amount of it, is what makes you. If you have more, you can do more and if you have most, you can do what you like.
There is no difference between the end of the present Hive and the end of investment banking.
Centralisation.
For decentralisation to stay decentralised it must actively and continually erect adaptive principles in its code to enforce decentralisation actively decentralizing stake through a valid Proof of Brain protocol.
Nothing is stopping Hive's potential if it can sort this out.
Blockchain is an opportunity for real change in this world. Yet, so many have used this decentralizing technology to create another type of centralization.
It is clear that a new paradigm in blockchain technology is coming - one which will be ushered forth by a few courageous living men and women.
The failures of the present are a road to that destination.
You like others here you have the opportunity to expand your vision.
