Hello, #weekendexperiences friends, today I want to share with you what we experienced yesterday at a small children's party that my husband, my son and I attended. This was the first children's party we attended since the pandemic started and it was for a girl named Aurora, who is the daughter of one of my husband's cousins, so she is more or less Leo's (our son) second cousin, but besides that they attended together to some preschool preparation classes and she was his only classmate, so they became very close friends and that's why we were invited to what would be our first children's party.
Yesterday early in the morning we started to prepare because, although it was a children's party, it was the first time we went out to a party or meeting since 2020, so I was very excited. As the girl was turning three years old, her parents did a mass in her name, as it is customary in Mexico when you turn that age, we did not attend this part of the celebration because between the fact that I am not catholic and that Leo would most likely be out and about, we preferred to spend that time doing something else, so we decided to go to a toy store to buy the gift, in the end we decided not to get too complicated with that and we bought her a doll and that was it, we went straight to the party.
But on our way to the party hall we got lost about ten minutes or so because we did not know where the hall was located and the gps had sent us to a wrong place, we had already started to get us in a bad mood and even leo was falling asleep, until eventually we arrived thanks to the neighbors in the area who very kindly gave us directions.
At first our idea was to stay for a short time because we were tired from all the hustle and bustle of the week, plus neither my husband nor I are used to being on the street for long and we didn't want to be back home so late, so during breakfast yesterday we agreed that we would only be at the party for two to three hours, but in the end we ended up staying for a little over four hours! It wasn't so much because we wanted to stay so long, but because Leo was having such a good time that we were sad to cut his fun short.
As I told you before, we are not a weekenders, so we took advantage of this event and let him fully enjoy his Saturday afternoon and well, we had a different kind of time too. At the party there were several activities for the little ones like "pin the tail on the donkey", a piñata and a bouncy castle that Leo refused to leave and where he spent practically the four hours we were at the party.
As the celebration was in the afternoon, we were also offered something to eat, although I was a little embarrassed to take a picture of it, honestly, but the food was delicious, as we were offered something known here as "cazuelas", which consists of different types of stews and side dishes, it is buffet style, so besides it was delicious we could eat as much as we wanted, this for me is always the best part of any celebration, the food, and this one was no exception.
At the end there was a small accident that practically ended the party, it turns out that two children were playing in the bouncy castle and the
two of them bumped heads, but one of them got hit in the nose, so you can imagine the amount of blood that started to gush out. After this incident the spirits diminished considerably and in the end we opted to leave when we saw that most of the people present were also preparing to do the same.
All in all it was a pretty small party, but the three of us had a lot of fun, especially Leo, as you can see in the pictures I am sharing with you. At the end the three of us arrived home very tired, but also very satisfied for having done something different from what we normally do.
Thank you very much for reading me, see you in comments.
