The right that many people, especially those in power, believe they have to dispose of nature by deforesting for various reasons, in turn affects humanity's right to cleaner air, to be in a balanced ecosystem.
That is why I believe that deforestation, human rights and consumerism go hand in hand. Although in this case I will emphasise the first term.
Deforestation occurs, according to those who carry it out, for several reasons (to name a few):
- Lack of space, which is not true, as there is plenty of space on our planet and there is no need to diminish clean air, affecting human beings.
- Agricultural and livestock reasons, for example, to plant soya, which, although it is a big business, in the long run deteriorates the soil and leaves it infertile.
- The use of wood for construction: It is not necessary, it can be replaced by other materials.
We often talk about climate change and we do not realise that the big ones, those who run the planet, are the ones who provoke the greatest climatic changes, altering nature in an atrocious way, they do not respect it, they do not love it.
Nature reacts like everything else in life, every action has its consequence, cause-effect.
All these large-scale actions against the earth, including excessive deforestation, have consequences and will have consequences. It is not the simple action of one person that damages everything, even if the sum of it collaborates.
It is the big changes that are made to the environment that will, and in fact already do, produce dire consequences.
The issue of deforestation goes hand in hand with the non-respect of the human right to a healthy life in nature, more and more afflictions, more and more disorders affect everyone. It is a two-way street.
And of course this same issue is related to consumerism, people deforest to consume, to create houses, for more space, more crops. It is easier to tear down a forest than to look for alternatives so as not to have to carry out that destruction.
Let's remember that things happen by cause-effect and this destruction can multiply over time. Nature exists for a reason. How many species have been lost due to deforestation and often we do not see those little things that can make a difference.
Many plants or trees have healing properties and I wonder, if they would cease to exist? Why do that?
If deforestation continues, will the planet change dramatically, will there be any turning back?
It is said that forests, jungles and other green spaces are the lungs of the earth, what would happen if we humans had no lungs? We would die, wouldn't we?
Taking care of nature is taking care of ourselves, governments should not be allowed to do what they are doing behind the backs, many times, of the people. There are many alternatives to consume without destroying nature.
And let us exercise our right to life on this planet, it is the only one we have. To love it is to love ourselves.
Many thanks to the @WEEKENDEXPERIENCES community and to for always bringing us such interesting topics.
Many greetings to all, see you in the comments.
See you next time.
