They say it never rains above the clouds but beneath them it surely does. This was the case recently on a gray day on which the sky was blanketed in clouds that threatened rain at any given moment, a day that leaves a person in the mood to stay snuggled in bed with a book and a never ending supply of tea. I got rained on quite early that day and once more a little later and I'll admit to grumbling about it but then the gray went away.

I'd missed a call from my cousin earlier and had made a note to call her back but after getting rained on that second time I decided it could wait; I wasn't in the mood. She kept calling though so I finally picked up and within a minute what she told me had chased away the gray!
Other than my mom and my guy I have no family living anywhere near. I have uncles and aunts and many cousins but they all live a few hundred miles away and it's difficult to travel there or for them to come here often. One is the cousin who called me, she and I are about the same age and are close, more like sisters. She had something exciting to tell me, and when we finally got to speak I realised why she was so excited.
She's moving to the city!
It was like the sun broke through the clouds; the day brightened, birds began to chirp merrily and as the sunlight burst forth from between parting clouds and blue skies appeared I felt uplifted and so very happy.
Ok, the clouds didn't part at all, the sun didn't shine and the birds didn't chirp any more than usual, I was happy though because I miss my cousin so much and all I could think of was spending a lot more time together. The day didn't brighten at all but my mood had instantly improved and I was as excited as my cousin, and that made the gray go away.
That was a few weeks ago, in a few more weeks my cousin and her husband will arrive to move into their house helped by us of course; Hmm...when I say "us" I mean my partner who will do all the heavy lifting along with my cousin's husband while my cousin and I chat and pretend to help. It's a girl's prerogative, yes?
We've got a few things initially planned, mostly around decorating and preparing their house, and I'm looking forward to spending time with my cousin that distance has not permitted previously and I feel so happy knowing she'll be close by.
