My guy and I have travelled extensively and have enjoyed every moment, even those that didn't go to plan. We seek experiences that most may not and while tourist attractions are often on our list we balance those with experiences where tourists might not usually be found. This allows us to mingle with locals, find hidden gems and find the time and space to dance to our own music so to speak.
One such place was the coastal village of Porthleven in Cornwall, United Kingdom. We were there to hike such trails as the Loe Circular Walk and Gunwalloe Church Cove to name just two. The allure was the walks and the little bed and breakfast we'd booked - perched on the side of a cliff with expansive views up and down the coast and out to sea; it was quite beautiful.

The walks were lovely with the seabirds calling overhead, slate-gray sea brimming with milk-thick white foam on the shore and forever-views to the horizon; standing on those cliffs left the feeling of floating above the world looking down upon it. The lush green lands around us contrasted beautifully and that the coast was windswept and it occasionally rained didn't detract, it was much the opposite.
We'd walk during the day, lungs filled with crisp sea air, and marvel at the feeling of being filled to bursting point with it and almost like our eyes could never draw in the scope of the world around us; it felt there were no boundaries or edges, that infinity spread in all directions.

We'd take our lunch to eat along the way huddled in a cove, sheltered by a tree or stone wall and always surrounded by more of the planet than our senses could absorb. In the evenings we'd go to the cozy and quaint public house nearby the little house we stayed in and enjoyed a meal there while chatting with locals and listening to their stories of the area and their own lives occasionally sharing our own. Later we'd return to the house, set the open fire and enjoy the rest of the evening as the flames gave warmth and that comforting crackle as it burned.
Looking back, being there felt like a chapter from a romance novel, although something that words can't really describe I think. It was a wondrous few days which filled us to the brim with happiness, contentment and togetherness and it is somewhere we both would like to return to someday although there's always new places to find and enjoy so I'm not sure we'll make it back. I hope so though.
