On the next photo you can see the place where I pursue my hobbies: writing, drawing, painting, crafting.
It would be nice to have a second table for the painting stuff, to just leave it there, but unfortunately I don't have enough space for that at the moment. Possibly I will prepare and adapt a room in the basement for the craft and painting activities next year.
And exactly there I sit now while writing these lines. But behind me on the wall is what has probably always been my greatest hobby: BOOKS !
Reading and writing have always been my greatest passions. I used to have much more books, probably three times as many, but due to many moves in the last decades they became less and less. Because no one likes to carry boxes of books.
I also now have a lot of books as ebooks, which does end up saving a lot of space. I have a Tolino ebook reader, but I hardly use it. The system of first downloading books to the PC, then converting them and finally transferring them to the reader was honestly too complicated for me.
I know a lot of people don't like Amazon, but you have to hand it to the guys, in terms of ease of use they just have the edge. And so I just use all my Kindle ebooks on an old smartphone, one click and the book I want is there.
The last two days I have not been feeling so well and have spent most of my time reading. That is still the best rest for me.
I read this book yesterday in one go ;-) It's just a nice little story about a doll clinic that gets saved from real estate sharks. Not highfalutin literature, but just a light read that just lets you dive into other worlds.
Back to my bookshelf, here you can find quite a lot of different topics:
A very old collection of Karl May books from my father when he was young.
One of my favorites, "Anam Cara" a book about celtic wisdom
Buddhism simply explained, unfortunately, there are these books from the 4th part no longer designed in this way, I find that very sad, so I have not bought more.
Feng Shui book collection, probably the topic I have the most books.
Architecture
Esoteric, Shamanism, Natural Health
Body work and yoga books, there is one I love the most among them, because this is such a beautiful book:
I have also two DVDs from the New York City Ballet Workbook, and believe me, this is not at "easy" as it looks like ;-) and it does a lot good for the body.
Some books from my childhood. I had a aunt, wich always told me fairytales and another aunt wich always gave me books as presents, I think those two aunts have been the ones who have shown me the lovely world of books.
Hmm, I definitely need to reread the old classic Greek sagas sometime. Maybe a good idea for the Christmas season.
Probably something very rare, a book about Graz from the time of the Hitler regime with black and white photos of the city
Last but not least, a book that probably everyone knows and if not, should read. The Little Prince, a timeless work.
By the way, there is a modern animated film about it, which I liked very much.
As already mentioned, what I love the most with books, is that I can go on a journey with them wherever and whenever I want. Just forget about any troubles and fly away with my mind.

Ein neues Thema für Galens WE Engagement: HOBBY
Hier auf diesem Foto seht ihr den Platz, an dem ich meinen Hobbies nachgehe: Schreiben, Zeichnen, Malen, Basteln.
Es wäre zwar schön, einen zweiten Tisch zu haben für die Malsachen, um das einfach liegen zu lassen, aber dafür habe ich zurzeit leider zu wenig Platz. Eventuell werde ich für die Bastel und Mal Tätigkeiten nächstes Jahr einen Raum im Keller herrichten und adaptieren.
Und genau dort sitze ich jetzt während ich diese Zeilen schreibe. Aber hinter mir an der Wand befindet sich das, was wohl immer schon mein größtes Hobby war: BÜCHER !
Lesen und Schreiben waren immer schon meine größten Leidenschaften. Früher hatte ich viel mehr Bücher, bestimmt drei mal so viele, aber durch viele Umzüge in den letzten Jahrzehnten wurden sie immer weniger. Denn keiner schleppt gerne Bücherkisten.
Auch habe ich mittlerweile sehr viele Bücher als ebooks, was am Ende doch viel Platz spart. Ich haber einen Tolino Ebook Reader, den ich allerdings kaum benutze. Das System, Bücher erst auf den PC zu laden, dann zu konvertieren und schließlich auf den Reader übertragen war mir ehrlich gesagt zu komplitziert.
Ich weiß, dass viele Leute Amazon nicht mögen, aber eines muss man den Jungs lassen, in Bezug auf Benutzerfreundlichkeit haben sie einfach die Nase vorne. Und so nutze ich all meine Kindle Ebooks einfach auf einem alten Smartphone, ein Klick und das gewünschte Buch ist da.
Die letzten beiden Tage ging es mir nicht so gut und ich habe die meiste Zeit mit Lesen verbracht. Das ist für mich nach wie vor die beste Erholung.
Dieses Buch habe ich gestern in einem Rutsch durchgelesen ;-) Es ist einfach eine kleine nette Geschichte, bei der es um eine Puppen Klinik geht, die vor Immobilien Haien gerettet wird. Keine hochtrabende Literatur, sondern einfach eine leichte Lektüre, die einen einfach in andere Welten eintauchen lässt.
Zurück zu meinem Bücherregal, hier findet sich querbeet ziemlich viel Verschiedenes, bitte seht euch das im oberen englischen Teil an, es wäre zu lange geworden, das alles nochmals in Deutsch einzufügen.
Wie schon erwähnt, was ich am meisten liebe an Büchern, ist dieses Abtauchen in andere Welten, alles vergessen und einfach im Geiste auf Reisen sein.
