This weekend was a surprising one right from the beginning!
Sturmfrei - Friday
That's the word we use in German when our parents are out of the house. For me, it now means that Lily is not with me and I can get stuff done. Her mom unexpectedly announced her presence. First, it was Wednesday to Thursday, but it ended up until Saturday evening.
That means time with friends on Friday. Ellie was kind of fed up with her week, too, and needed something different, and friends of ours had come up with the idea to make pizza. It was supposed to be for Lily and their daughter, but I brought Ellie instead. That was fine, too, more of an adult setting. We also brought a case of beer, which was even finer.
As those things tend to turn out, we turned in quite late. Ellie staid the night with me, and since I'm not used to sleeping next to someone, I did not get the quality of sleep needed. Plus the alcohol, that doesn't help my sleep, either.
Bake awake - Saturday
I had organized to go to the next town, Ibarra, to do shopping and meet with: My girlfriend's daughter's boyfriend's father's girlfriend. Yeah, go figure that one out.
The father and his girlfriend (and mother of his second child) have a bakery, and had some questions about sourdough, so I went by to make some contacts, get some new ideas and see how they can go with my instructions. It turned out great, which is a little bit sad, because that means that my bakers are just not following my instructions. And they got the same. Still, the bread looked amazing. Since sourdough bread is a loooooooooong process, I didn't wait for it all, but just did the preparation of the dough with them and left instructions.
Lily came back in the afternoon and we went to a newly renovated park and played basketball with my sister-in-law (after 5 years of relationship with Ellie we call each other that), her son, and Ellie's daughter. Ellie sat beside and drank and provided refreshing drinks.
Afterwards, my pizza friend's called and asked if their daughter could stay with us for the night. As they had taken in Lily a couple of times, I was happy to finally be able to return the favor.
Until the evening. It got late, and it's harder to bring two girls to bed, than one. But I got it done, somehow.
Sleep is overrated - Sunday
So, the other kid decided to get up at 5.30am and not fall asleep again. In order to keep her quiet - she just started singing in the bed -, I took her into my office room, and started working a little as well. That's why I posted my Sunday post quite early. By 7am, I was going on 2 cups of coffee already and made pancakes, which woke Lily up (no idea how she could sleep so long with the other rascal being a legit noise machine).
I went to the market, leaving the kids to see how they'd do for 30min alone, and they did great. So, they got some treats (as if pancakes weren't enough...) that I had bought on the market, fruits and such, and later we went to the park again. Both of them were picked up at 11.30am - the girl went back to her parents, and Lily went with Sisa to celebrate mothers day with her numerous family, and put on a traditional indigenous dress (the family is Kichwa).
Ellie and her sister came over to talk about the world and we found out that her sister and I use the same deodorant. That's quite funny, as Ellie always makes fun of her sister and I having more in common than Ellie and I (which is true, that's why we get along well as friends, but would probably not work as a couple).
In the afternoon, Ellie and I had a serious talk about our relationship, mainly her relationship to Lily and my relationship to Ellie's daughter. It's a little ambiguous at the moment, still is, even after the talk, but we at least got a conversation started. It's not super urgent, but important nonetheless.
We went to pick up Lily, and everyone went to bed. I was smashed from the short nights and long days, and was happy when Lily fell asleep at 7.30pm. I went to bed at around 9pm - but then it was 11pm, and Lily woke up with stomach ache and a temperature. No fever, but I could tell that she wasn't feeling well. She took some of the natural medicine that I have for those cases, and snuggled up in my bed with me, but did not let me sleep much that night.
So, today is Monday, and I'm on my 6th cup of coffee. Got some stuff done, though. Meeting with the baker crew and a friend who helped me build and install a shelf.
Crossing my fingers to get some sleep today.
