It's been interesting to see how the price of HIVE starts tanking. Well, I'm sure it's not like that, but still. It could have stayed at 2$ for some more time. My guess is that with the price of Bitcoin going down, everything else does the same. Hopefully, it will go up again. But I can't tell.
Enough economy talk!
I'm here because I woke up with something in mind. Yes, today is my birthday. But this used to mean something different. You see. If grandpa was still alive, he and grandma would be celebrating their 64th wedding anniversary. However, nothing lasts forever. I wouldn't remind grandma about this because she's still grieving and in truly sad fashion. That's her choice and I respect that.
Days like this would start with grandpa calling me very early in the morning to wish me Happy Birthday. Grandma would do the same. In turn, I would turn it around and wish them a Happy Anniversary. I was always onto that because you can't be born on such a day and don't remember it. One of the little joys of my life that still means a lot.
Talking about joyful things, I was surprised by a good friend who's in Chile. She sent me cookies. And lo, they are amazing cookies. Last year she sent me some mandocas (a traditional fried sweet dish from Maracaibo). And well, I was't expecting anything for today. I couldn't even bake a cake since there's no butter and there are things to pay ahead of us.
Then, it came the second surprise. One after the other. A cake! Yes, my cousin, who lives in Miami, sent me this cake. She's been sending cakes to all family members left and right. And what a pretty gift it is. The guys who came over to bring the cake even went so far as to ask: You know who sent this, right?
Of course, I do. My beloved cousin!
As the day is coming to a close, I'm happy to be alive and healthy (except for this petty allergies), to have something I love doing and having the chance to share things from time to around here.
I hope you have had a wonderful weekend. And a happy birthday to all of those who share this day with me!
Trivia facts about this day:
Today is the Day of the College Professor. So I've sent many congratulations to former teachers I had in college and other I met that are still good friends. During some time, I flirted with the idea of becoming one myself. But it didn't stick.
Also, in 1814, the patriots lost the Battle of Urica. This meant the fall of the Second Republic, but José Tomás Boves, a Spanish General, dies during the battle. He was the one who showed the patriots that having the Llaneros (people from the plains) on your side meant you had the key to victory.
I guess there's more about this day, but those are the facts I know. I'm off to eat cake!
