We are back on the best weekend community in Hive for the #weekend-engagement initiative. Brought to you by the one and only G-dog. Sorry for the publicity act. It seems fitting since the G-dog is a businessman. This idea of weekend related topics are always food for thought. I love them even more when I get the chance to share some of my projects around here.
My choice for this week is:
The no-device weekend
You have no computer, mobile phone or gaming console for the entire weekend. Write at least 350 words about how you feel and why and how you handle having no devices to occupy yourself with.
To this I say "No device? No problem!"

There's always plenty to do at home during the weekends. Since I've been doing this content creation challenge to get myself into a better creative discipline, the weekend are the right place to organize my weeks. However, they are still the days when I make a lot of progress on my builds.
Last weekend I made some progress on this one. I could finally complete the task of rounding the neck. Before doing it I did a lot of work getting the frets and position markers on. So, what's left? Tons and lots of sanding. So, no devices for the weekend? I would be able to get this as smooth as a baby's behind in no time. I wouldn't feel my arms afterwards, that's for sure.
I think electronics keep us out of focus. However, trying to create content means having a device always on. It is a sort of paradox, but one should be able to have some free time of not creating anything for other people but oneself. Or at list that's my perception of the idea.
What's else would I tackle during this black-mirrorless weekend? Well, there are other 3 instruments still in process. I would go ahead and install purflings and bindings on two of them and go ahead and remove the sound board that was broken during an accident.
More to do? Sure! I need to hone all my tools. Do you know how much time that takes? Hours! One hour to soak the whetstone. And quite some time from chisel to chisel. Then, the knives. It is an awesome thing to do. But I'm sorry. There won't be any ASMR since there won't be a way to record. Have you listened to a ceramic whetstone grinding steel? It gives me goose bumps each time. Such a wonderful sound.
And this is just regarding my DIY shenanigans.

In the music department, there are some things pending in my list. A few more solos that need some refining until I can record them. The only downside of having no devices for this part is that I do not have one of those metronomes. I usually use the phone for that. I guess I'll need to use my own heartbeat to keep on measure.
And that's easier said than done. Plenty of new exercises are waiting for me to learn them properly.

I also enjoy the idea of going for walks. Houses around the neighborhood are beautiful and we have a nice view of the sky as well. Just look at this:
I took it this morning on my last lap. I wouldn't be able to share the view, but that wouldn't stop me from enjoying a whole lot of it.

But there's something more I would do that requires concentration and skill.
Next Saturday, I'm going to moderate a cultural activity about the art of luthierie. It is an awesome chance to show my work in town. I'm also having some special guests to join me in this conversation about the craft. Besides that, it will be the first time I perform as a soloist in front of a lot of people. So a weekend without distractions would be the best thing ever to finish setting up the details of this activity.
These are some of the ways I could keep myself busy while not using devices for the weekend. What would you do if you had to do the same?
