Today, I wan to tell of a very bad night in which I was close to death not once, but twice.
Well, this started bleak! Strap on!
So, back in 2013 when I was at my second semester at UDO, I had this girlfriend who was part of the choir. In those days, I was only with the typical orchestra.
She invited me to the big event of choir at UDO. In this festival the 5 choices from all the campus would be here at Cumaná. It is something that was done with all the cultural groups of college. A great time share, learn and drink. There were lots of drinking on those events. I can tell. I was in a few of them.
The night came, I got ready and all handsome since it was also some kind of date afterwards. The concert was awesome. I think that's when I decided, I wanted to get into choir singing.
The after-party was on the street near the hotel where the test of choirs slept. It wasn't so uncommitted to find groups of people just chilling. Besides, were stood near a place that's pretty popular for this kind of thing.
We got to drink and sing and eat. It was for sure some interesting time to share. Then, I got this whisper in my ear that my girl was a bit tired of this social interaction and was to put it shortly, horny. That's a very common thing after the euphoria of being on stage.
Bet any artist who reads this can relate.
We went off from the place since I had to get home somehow and so did she. But we went to find a room. The problem was that the place where all the inns are gathered wasn't exactly safe. I bet it still isn't. But this is Venezuela and you never know what's actually safe or not.
We go to the Inn and the guy at the reception blew us off. The door was closed and we didn't know what to to at the moment when it happened. We heard s motorcycle accelerate. This was a very common thing at the time. And this were robbed. They didn't us. But as she complained, the thugs took out their guns. They only took my wallet at the time. They took a big bag she carried with her make-up and the whole dress from the choir and other personal belongings.
She was crying and was holding and also moving because we didn't know if something else could happen. We found s place to sit and stayed there for a bit until some elderly guys came by to ask what had happened. They pointed us to a police patrol that was around. Of course, the police was of no help. The usual thing around here. So, we did the only thing we could. We walked towards her house in the downtown.
As we were walking, she asked me if they had taken everything I had. Replying I still had my phone, she told me to hide it in my underwear. And wouldn't you know it, as we were a few blocks from her house, another thug came out of nowhere threatening us with a gun. He asked for everything we had.
We pleaded we didn't have anything. And this was the first and only time I have had a gun pointed to my head. I think we sounded to convincing telling the guy we had just been ripped off our belongings. I think she even told him to go rob the guys on the motorcycle.
The thug was pissed but he just told us to get going as fast as we could. And we did.
To be honest, this was the scariest part for me. People around here have shot dead for less than this. I was afraid the guy might take a shot at us from behind. But as I am writing this, you know it didn't happen.
Now that I remember a bit more about this girl, she was a magnet for thieves. That relationship didn't last too much, but I remember hearing more often than not that she had been mugged. It is a very bad thing to lose your stuff. Especially, when you live in a country where getting material things is a Sisyphean ordeal.
I'm ok but still remember that night as a time when I could've died for being horny. That would have been shame. Also, that guy at the inn was a dick. He could've let us in after we were robbed in front of the damn place. But the crisis in the country isn't just about economy and social problems. That problem are people wanted to have other suffer too.
Anyways, did you find this tale interesting? Do you have any near death experience that make for good anecdotes?Let me know in the comment section!
