Happy Sunday, Hive friends and the rest of "The Weekend" Community.
I just woke up a lil a while ago and now sitting here at the porch drinking my afternoon coffee scrolling my Hive feed and a song just popped in my head. The irony every time I visit this community. It's the weekend. The song. Now the challenge is calling me.
Before that, Happy 2nd Anniversary, The Weekend! Congratulations for making this far and kudos to all the amazing people behind this group.
So I am joining this week's challenge - Link Below:
[WE104] Weekend-Engagement concept (TWO YEARS OLD)
and I chose Question # 2 (Two songs or pieces of music)
Name two songs or pieces of music that have meant a great deal to you, defined moments in your life, made you feel great happiness or great sorrow when you hear them or take you back to a special moment. Explain why in each case. You can link the YouTube videos if you like.
(Just me singing "Angels")
(My husband and I)
Song # 1: Angel by Sarah McLahlan
My favorite lines in song
In the arms of the angel
Fly away from here
From this dark, cold hotel room
And the endlessness that you feel
You are pulled from the wreckage
Of your silent reverie
You're in the arms of the angel
May you find some comfort here
Song # 2: Angels by Robbie Williams
My favorite lines in the song
And through it all she offers me protection
A lot of love and affection
Whether I'm right or wrong
And down the waterfall
Wherever it may take me
I know that life won't break me
When I come to call, she won't forsake me
I'm loving angels instead
If you notice, they are both "Angel/s" songs. I belong to a Catholic faith, but I do believe there are spirits, mystics and all. If angels fall in that category, YES, I do believe in them. These are very emotional songs that I am sure many of us can relate to. Songs that are about the loss of someone close and that has endured suffering, pain and will hopefully in time find comfort and peace "In the arms of an angel”.
I have written this a million times that I suffered from depression when I was a little younger (before I got married). Not going into details, but I can say, I am almost 100% healed saved by an angel and angels in disguise.
These 2 songs have been my ultimate favorites up to the present. I can't remember how many times I've played and sang them in karaoke bars hehe. They are very relatable to my life story.
My Angel Story
Sorry, this is going to be a little bit personal.
13-14 years ago, I spent two years getting to know my husband through the internet. And he got two years getting to know me. I saw his highs and my lows. He discovered that I was suicidal (each of those he went through with me). He was suicidal himself too. 2 suicidal people met at an unexpected time.
To cut the story short, I have accepted all his faults unconditionally. I never asked anything from him but loving me unconditionally in return. We have been married for over 10 years now, and what we have with each other has healed not only a lot of the pains that both of us had from our past, but also brought emotional stability into my life as well. In 10 years marriage, I am still a little hyper emotional at times, but he knows how to make everything alright to calm me down.
Some might ask, why would he go 7000 miles to marry someone who is suicidal like him? Simple answer. Because he fell in love with my good and wanted to be there for me during the bad. I felt the same. He calls me "my angel", I call him, my "dark angel" hehe. (Cheeeeeessssseee)
We actually got a tattoo each with the same design (Angel heart) on our 3rd wedding anniversary. Instead of going out and eat or watch a movie, we went to a tattoo shop and had this angel tattoos done. Mine is on my left calf and my husband is on his right arm.
I literally can't express how good these songs make me feel and give me goosies every time I hear them.
When I'm down, I just listen to these songs. They are great for my mental health and emotional well-being. I permit myself absorbing the emotions rather than resisting them. Playing these two releases the harmful thoughts in my brains and replaces them with feelings of serenity, love and peace. They give me a cover on my daily worries and past nightmares.
Hope y'all are having a great weekend!
