Life and death situations
[The scar in my arm]
Two life-and-death situations have plagued my life, one happened in my first year in junior secondary school, and the second happened when I was a full-grown teenager. The two were so near to death that I still remember it to date.
A Catholic Accident
I was in my first year in Secondary school, J.S.S 1. And while going home and crossing the street, I got knocked down by a car opposite a catholic church, immediately I got knocked down, I got up and walked across the street as if nothing happened, in a bid to make my way home, not knowing that what has hit me wasn’t only a car but I already have my flesh torn in the arm through it. It was crazy as people saw me walking off the street like superman. Immediately, some men who saw what happened rushed at me before I collapse on the floor, and rushed me to the hospital.
Getting to the hospital, I was stitched and my parent was contacted, the man who knocked me down stood there with me throughout and I started feeling dizzy while trying to containing the pain of being stitched. It was the second day I knew something hit me, I found it hard to walk or do anything, I could remember vividly, I was time two my size, how that happened I don't know, I just got bigger overnight. Obese. Every aspect of my body was bigger than what it was yesterday. And it took me more than a month before could resume back to school, the mark still exists to date.
An Unknown Drug
I don't go sick, and even if I do, it is hardly once in a blue moon, even in an entire year, I might not be sick. Some say it is because of my blood group, but I don't know. So, whenever I am sick, the next thing is to go fully treated for both malaria and typhoid and infection all at once, eithere through drugs which then comprises of Chloroquine, priton and amoxillin), always administered by a neighbors store or neighborhood nurse. That's how my mum does it, (then i'll grow taller 😆).
I already developed an acquittance(the medical people have a term for this, when a drug doesn't have effect on you anymore) with Priton, a sleeping drug, so when I told the woman that there is no need for her to add priton to my drug and injection, she substituted it with another unknown drug mixed inside the injection given to me. I got home, as usual, expecting sleep. Instead, I started sweating profusely and stretching like a convulsed person. Stretching my bone more than necessary and it's looking like the boy is going small small.
Mum came in and rushed me to the hospital, where they gave me another injection which suppress everything in a few minutes, I slept off and woke up normally. I remember vividly the name of the injection then, but because I'm not the sicking type; I have forgotten the name of that specific drug now to avoid it in years to come since I reacted to it. Thank God I didn't die.
These two life experiences have nearly claimed my life
