I'm here!
Missing you was this weekends engagement topic. Galen sorry, I went missing this weekend, maybe that was the biggest surprise and to me it's kinda funny. I participated by not participating 😂. You did not see that coming.
I'm gonna make up to it . Here is my excuse.
Don't be scared, this is me after 3h off chiseling a ceiling. Concrete, limestone, sandstone. I looked like a freakin ghost lol.
I met a girl with her dog a while ago. Turned out she just bought this old house from 1876? down the road.
We liked each other, the dogs got along well and she needed help because some people ditched her. Her house needs to be fixed inside. Dismantling, rebuilding...construction stuff.
I'm a child of the former German Democratic Republic - I can do anything ;).
Her friend Mac from Switzerland is doing the renovation and he soon noticed that I'm kinda useful, of course I am.
So here I was this weekend. In this tiny, angled, narrow house. Steep staircases, two stories, lots of small cute rooms. But yah...old and tinkered.
Watch your step!
Ahhhhhh the beautiful flair of a construction site, can you smell the...dust off centuries?, the dust particles, cobwebs and fungal spores?
I went up to the second floor. The bathroom needed to be freed from the concrete ceiling covered in white latex paint, and some limestone whatever mixture...the dude who owned it before did some weird stuff to the house.
Let's get to work was my motto and guess what, a stonemason has been lost on me, no kidding. Chiseling a ceiling 3h nonstop arms up...I can do it 💪. I chiseled and chiseled and chiseled...I was in da chiseling zone.
Whatever they gave us in the GDR, it is working.
Favorite tool...the destroyer....muhahahahah.
The house was build 18hundredsomething, it was plastered with clay and straw that trickled down on you like a warm summer rain.
The substance of the house...rather mehhhhh.
The tiles were easy with the hammer drill, the ceiling needed to be chiseled by hand. Old school. Best workout, telling you.
The house is weird but it has character and it's all about helping out so room after room will be tackled within the next 3 weeks.
Lots to do but in 3 weeks Mac needs to leave, he is moving to a different country and just stoped to "build" the house.
Dismantling the bathroom and the one you see above was my weekends activity. Layer after layer the house can start to breath again.
I'm documenting the process a little bit, love the little scenes that make a construction site, the supporting cast in a way.
Vicky, the girl I met is starting a project with kids in that house, and one next to it. So a cool thing and it is nice to become a part of the houses history.
But I was not just busy playing Bob the Builder but also taking care of Joy this weekend.
He injured himself. Something happened to his knee and he is having trouble walking. His kneecap is loose and that causes him issues when going downhill. It's one of the mysteries we inherited when adopting him.
But good mom I always have ARNICA OINTMENT in the house. Works miracles, for bruises, sprains, broken bones, anti-inflammatory, pain relieving. A true natural medicine! So by now he is feeling better already and I hope by tomorrow he is good to go.
We needed something to eat, constructions sites make hungry.
Vicky, Mac and the doggies hung out at my place. They love the Bears Garlic Pesto I made a while ago. Spaghetti and Pesto it was for dinner. And some Greek red wine.
In between the worst case scenario.
MacBooks death!
What happened? I don't know. Suddenly done. Nothing. Blank...later black.
Panic...trying...different...things...panic...nothing...trying again...nothing...panic...times...ten...a...last...try...
Turning off - Restart while pushing Shift...black...screen...panic...Pushing On button...nooothiiin...wait...
Praise the Lord...the Apple came to life.
So now tell me...are those legit reasons to skip the Weekend-Engagement?
And isn't it a genius move to miss out on the missing topic as a response to it?
🤔
Last one is genius...muhahahahahaaa and building new connections for a good cause is a legit thing.
Next weekend I'm in...maybe ;).
