It's getting more frequent that I joined the #Weekend-engagement topics provided by sir . It's good to pause and ponder the "What ifs" of real life just like this week's engaging topics. So if you don't have content to think about, please try checking WE 169 topics and maybe, you might find yourself writing about one of these interesting topics. Common you still have time!
This week, I'm choosing,
- What would you do if...
πΉYou lost your job and have no income
Becoming a public school teacher in the Department of Education Philippines and serving our nation by educating the "future hopes" of our country is truly a dream come true. Every year thousands of applicants and aspirants are lining up just to get this stable job, a permanent teacher of DepEd.
Although there are some issues and concern that needs to be addressed in the agency, like being "overworked and underpaid" (compared to other teachers in another country), "too much work ancillary", and spending our own money for the beautification of our classrooms and the realization of some school events and so many more to mention. However, none of these give me reasons to complain and be demotivated to teach, because I have known since day 1 that I stepped into the classroom - my heart has been burning with passion to mold and inspire young minds.
So never have I imagined losing this profession, my bread and butter, my life.
But what if? (Insert me making a sign of the cross praying this won't happen!) I lost my Job, and have No Income.
Losing a job is hard, but having no income is harder!
If this happens, it means I will realize my retirement plans earlier than expected. Just this year, I had set my retirement plans which I excitedly shared with my husband (he was very surprised!). Haha. Well, it's not that I have some out-of-the-world plans, but he was just surprised that the retirement idea had crossed my mind this early, knowing that I super love my job.
First is doing Business: Managing my Small Sari-sari Store full time.
The first thing I'd do is manage my Little Sari-sari (Grocery) Store full-time. This small store has been running since the COVID-19 Pandemic.
I am selling a variety of goods. But like other small businesses, my store too has faced ups and downs, I lacked the time to manage the store this year, instead I hired somebody who will take care of the store. I saw the difference in the cash flow when I managed the store personally compared to trusting it to other people and this is where my plan about managing the store full time comes in "on my retirement", which I will also do if ever I lost my job.
I'll add more stocks and offer more products, and since I lost my job which means I don't have an income to put up more capital for my store, I'm thinking of withdrawing some of my HBD Savings for my capital and rolling the money until it will grow.
Second: Pursue my blogging in Hive.
I started my Hive Journey last 2022 and so far I am loving every bit of my journeys here. I'm here for a long term and I could imagine myself flourishing.
I love Hive for so many reasons, as I've been sharing with others, Hive has been my best outlet for expressing myself and sharing the beautiful things of my countryside. But the main reason why I am hooked on Hive is because I am the boss of my own time. I can access it anywhere I go as long as there is an internet connection.
So If I lost my job, probably I'd be hanging around more often while I am also managing my store. By then, I will be able to reach my goal "to publish and engage daily".π€
Third: Early morning Gardening.
My Garden accomplishment during my short summer break gave me so much fulfillment so if I could spend more time on gardening like daily nurturing, I am positive that I would be harvesting positive results.
This would be a great savings for the family because we don't need to buy in the market. This is also healthy living as we will be eating the fresh produce of my garden. Lastly, my garden could be a source of income if I grow it even more and sell its fruits to the neighborhood. What do you think?
Finally: Hiking, Climbing, and Camping as my recreation!
Though I am busy on the weekdays because of my work but still I'm enjoying my hikes and minor climbs, I think If I have my free time, I can try camping in the mountains that I dreamed of climbing like Mt. Pulag, Mt. Apo, Mt. Hibokhibok and the list goes on without worrying - that I need to prepare my lessons on Monday! Haha.
For sure I'll be adjusting my finances, (not to mention I'd be very heartbroken π) I might be cutting some of my expenses and just living a very simple life, but I believe if I work hard and find passion for the things I mentioned especially the first three, sooner or later I'll have a new source of income.
Takeaway
At the end of this writing, I realized, Life is full of uncertainties, we can never predict what will happen next, so we must make plans and prepare ourselves for whatever the future may bring especially when finances is involved.
Another is, remember to always give your best and never cease your personal and professional growth. Continuously develop your skills and your abilities so you can safeguard your dream job, as it's often more challenging than we might initially anticipate.βΊοΈ
That's it for my thoughts on this #weekend-engagement topic about what would I do if I lost my job and had no income. This was tough yet very interesting. Thank you so much for your time. I hope you enjoyed reading it! I wish you all safe and well always.
Have a great week ahead!
Don't forget to smile often!π€ππ
