It’s worth noting that I only started working after I’d finished my A-levels; my parents never liked the idea of me working because they said I should study to get a degree and secure my future. I remember working for a private company for three years, but it turned out that the company was sold and moved to another city, and those of us who wanted to stay on had to either move or live in that city in order to continue working there.
I really enjoyed that job, because we made a variety of products and I learnt something new every day about how to make them, but I didn’t like having to move house because it was very expensive. Eventually, I went on to study a first degree in computer science at university and, after a while, a degree in teacher training, during which I had the opportunity to take part in a competition to work for the Ministry of Education on a project called CBIT.
After sitting several tests, I was selected and started work. This has been my best job yet, as I work as a teacher in a computer lab, where I teach pupils from nursery school up to Year 6. In this role, we have supplied Canaima computers to many schools; I have carried out equipment maintenance and installed various operating systems in a Linux environment. It has been a wonderful experience where I have gained a wealth of knowledge and learnt a great deal.
I’ve now been in this job for almost twenty years; for me, it’s been the best job I’ve ever had. What’s more, it was through this job that I met my wife; we started dating and eventually got married, starting a family together with my two lovely children.
I hope you liked it, see you in a next post.
