It is worth noting that in 2025, in my country, we suffered power cuts lasting up to eight hours; at work, we had to implement what is known as electricity rationing. The government stated at the time that these cuts were caused by severe droughts, but in my view it was due to a lack of maintenance of the equipment, as well as the fact that many people use the electricity supply without paying for it, connecting illegally to avoid payment, and this caused the power grid to collapse.
Now, I thought that things would change in 2026, but it turns out that a few months ago the power cuts started again. Where I live, the power goes off every day from 3 pm until 8.30 pm – that’s more than five hours. In view of this situation, I had to buy two surge protectors for the fridge and the air conditioning to protect these appliances. I had also bought a UPS so I could connect to the internet and not be cut off during this time.
It really isn’t easy being without electricity because, in my case, I have to create my Hive content early in the morning when I have time, so I can publish it on the blockchain. On the other hand, when the power goes out at night, we struggle a bit with the heat, but I open a few windows to get some ventilation. As for the food, it stays fresh in the fridge during those hours and doesn’t go off.
We use gas from cylinders to cook our meals, which allows us to light the hob. To have some light, I bought a rechargeable lamp that stays on for five hours, and that’s how we manage to get by without electricity.
I hope you liked it, see you in a next post.
