My Hive Name
Jose Rizal is called Dimasalang or Laong Laan.
Andres Bonifacio is called Agapito Bagumbayan.
Mariano Ponce is called Tikbalang.
Marcelo H. Del Pilar is called Plaridel.
In so many ways, I envy our Philippine Heroes for being so creative in making their pen names. Why the heck was I not able to think of something creative to call myself other than my real name here on Hive?
Yes, my Hive name is also my real name. And to be honest, I hate that I was so honest of my name when I created this account five years ago. There are so many options to make it more appealing, more mysterious, or more interesting but I am now stuck with this Hive name that is so bland and plain which is totally the opposite of me. Aside from that, it is so open to public and so to scammers, hackers, and the like. Although, I don't think I am a good subject for scamming, hacking, and phishing because I am just nobody, I believe it is still safe to keep your personal information in private.
Honestly, when I knew about Hive, I thought of leaving this account name to the previous platform and just start new with a different and creative name, but I was advised by to just continue using this but totally leaving the old chain. And that was it!
But please do not get me wrong on this. I love my name! The name Christian is a beautiful name. It reminds me to do good and be a true follower of Jesus Christ. Although, it is really difficult to follow the exact route and the character of Jesus but people (mostly students) calling me this name helps me be reminded from time to time. My elder sister is named Christyn, so when I was born I was given the male version of her name.
But, if I were given a chance to change my Hive name, it would be any of these.
- ginoo - It is the filipino word for "mister". I would want my name to have a Filipino word on it because I am proud to be a Filipino. Philippines has so much to offer to the world, and I would want to do that as well here on Hive.
- chan - This is my nickname. Well, I want it to be spelled it like this rather than "Tian" which sounds more like "Tiyan" or stomach in Bisaya, a language spoken by the people of Cebu.
- bee - I think using the word "bee" is fun, smart, and at the same time obvious and okay because afterall this is Hive. But,
could also mean "be christian" so if I'll have this as my Hive name it would mean showing you how to be like myself and what kind of bee am I on Hive.
- Since I became a licensed teacher, I had been addressed as "Sir Christian" by almost everybody. I think, it would be fine to also bring it here on Hive. I think it would be such a noble and professional name.
Conclusion
But since I cannot change my Hive name anymore, the best thing to do is to just accept that fact. I believe I can still showcase my talents and skill here using this uninteresting Hive name. And I think using my real name gives assurance to the platform that I will not do anything bad or illegal because my name, profession, and dignity are at stake.
Anyways, this is my #weekend-engagement entry for the contest organized by . Thank you so much for reading. Cheers! Because tomorrow will be my birthday! (February 19).
