Hello, Hive! Today, I wanted to participate in the Weekend-Engagement Writing Week 139 organized by ! He has very interesting prompts this week, so you might as well join! Click here to know more.
SHOTRIFICE verb; to sacrifice something in order to get a good shot/photo; a combination of the word shot and sacrifice
After stopping by at Bangui Windmills, our tour van drove going to Patupat Viaduct in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte, Philippines! It is one of the longest bridges in the country. This coastal bridge provides you a beautiful view of the sea that extends up to 1.3 kilometers according to our tour guide/driver.
As soon as we arrived, the guide told us to enjoy the view and to take some good pictures of this famous destination in Ilocos Norte. I invited my wife to join me but she was still putting on sunscreen. So, I thought she could not shotrifice her beautiful bright skin for a photo.
But not for me, I was not afraid of getting sunburns or any mark of our beautiful and adventurous vacation in Ilocos! I did not want anything getting in the way - including the heat of the sun! As much as possible, I wanted to see, experience, and enjoy the whole trip and adventure. And definitely, part of that was to shotrifice my light-brown skin to have beautiful memorabilias of the place.
I was happy that Grace finally joined me on the road although she also instructed and requested me to do the shots as quickly as possible. After a click or two, she would run to the shaded side of the road to hide from the sun. That was not being “Over-acting” because it was really very hot. It was around one o’clock in the afternoon.
I also asked Grace to take pictures of me. I requested that we go to the other side of the road/bridge so that we could get a photo showing how high the bridge is, but she refused. I did not want to argue with her because we were here to enjoy and not the other way around. So, I just stood there and posed on that same lane.
Before we went inside the van we enjoyed this dessert below which was sold here exactly on this spot. If I remembered correctly, we call this cold drink "Scramble" in Cebu. It is basically a fruit-flavored crushed iced with milk, chocolate syrup and creamy toppings. This one has somehow gave us a nice chill under Mr. Sun 🌞.
Anyhow, the whole experience in Patapat Bridge was fun and memorable. I was (and still am) very grateful for being able to come here.
I know you have experienced shotrificing to achieve that instagram-worthy or facebook story update, so tell me more in the comment section below! I am excited to know more.
