Hi fellow Weekenders,
Today I'm adding some more pictures from one of the new farms we went to!
Farms Are Our Favorite
One of the things that's important to me and my wife is being able to visit farms whenever we can.
I took the little man on a trip to a farm when we were looking for something to do and this one was nice, it was fairly close to us but it was one we haven't been to before! Score another one for some fun time out, that's for sure. This farm is a bit different than other ones nearby in that it raises a bunch of different animals and sells their own meat. Some of the farms don't raise many things besides chickens but this one has an array of things.
They had a few cows out here to interact with us people. I think these are the nicer ones, though it did have a moment where it let me know that I shouldn't try to give it a scratch in that part of it's head lol. Noted!
In this area there were a total of 6 cows which was cool. There were the two momma's and some calves as well as some adolescents. It was interesting to see the different types of cows. There were these big brown ones, two of them I think, and then there were the more traditional white and black spotted cows. What the different breeds of them are, I have no idea but it was distinct for sure.
There were also quite a few goats! The goats were certainly aggressive with their desire to have food lol. There was one that was jumping over the other ones and headbutting it out of the way so that it could get the morsels we had. Our bag of goat feed certainly came in handy here!
Feed me!
This horse cracked me up. It was quite aggressive about getting some food! We were feeding the goats in the pen next to it and it pops its head over and gets mad at me that I'm not giving it any food. Too bad all I had was goat food, I read that it's not good to feed horses goat food so we fed him a little bit but stopped. I didn't want to hurt the thing in the end that's for sure.
So I don't know about you but I didn't realize what a pigs fur felt like! The stuff is incredibly wiry and stiff. I thought it would be kind of like cows or a horse and be kind of soft. Nope! This stuff was almost like a spine or something. It was tough stuff! The pig was gentle though and just wanted to get some snacks from us.
Who could resist a cute piglet like this?! I know we certainly couldn't for a while. ...Then the smell hits you! Man the piglets cage was full of shit, literally. There was poop all over the place and it smelled horribly. The poor thing, all it wanted was some belly rubs but I didn't trust it. Pigs roll in their space and I don't want pig shit on my or our son's hand. Sorry Babe, not happening! I know you're cute and all..
The farm here was definitely a lot of fun. We will be going back to it when we need to stock up on some meats for soups and stews and stuff! Hopefully we don't have to stock up too much but you don't know how things are going to pan out with this supply chain shit. Don't even get me started on that..
