Hi fellow Hiveians,
The other day the little man and I spent some time on the beach, frigid temperatures be damned!
Nipply Beach Weather
We decided the other day that we needed to get out as a family. With crazy bouts of health issues and other things that have plagued us for a while, we needed some fresh air. What kind of fresh air is better than beach air?! I certainly don't know of any, that's for sure!
We took a drive to a place I used to frequent in my younger years, a beach on the eastern coast of Massachusetts. This might have been my first time there during the winter that I can think of but I might be missing some random party we went to and drank on the beach. We did it in the summer for sure, don't know about the winter lol
Thankfully we weren't the only crazies out there! There were quite a few people out and about walking around enjoying the crisp air. We unfortunately didn't go well prepared, we forgot our balaclavas so our faces were pretty damn cold! I think we would have tried to build a small sand castle or something if we had the right gear. Such is life though, we still enjoyed it.
The day was a typical winter day, grey and cold. Since I hadn't been here in a long time I still appreciated it though, had some fond memories all up and down this stretch of sand!
We drove to another patch of coastline nearby and this one was much more habitable as far as the temperature was concerned. Minimal wind made the time we spent here a lot more enjoyable. I think we spent about 90 minutes at this one! Lots of awesome rocks to throw in the water, various things to find on the pebbles.
I'm glad we gave this one a look. It's normally a private beach with resident parking only. It was still technically that but the police couldn't be bothered on such a cold and dreary day so I didn't see a single one in our jaunt up here. Worked out for the best, too! We found a few cool treasures on the way, some awesome sea glass.
We also found some other stuff that was a little crazy lol hard to see here but there are 3 dead seagulls on the rocks! The easiest one is a few feet to the right of our son's head. That was wild to see, I don't normally see a lot of dead gulls but something must have taken a few out! Thankfully the little man didn't insist on trying to poke them around with a stick, that wouldn't have been very pleasant lol
