Weekend Engagement Writing Prompts: WEEK 138.
Before the pandemic I had an additional job in the afternoon, which I liked since it was in a pastry shop as a cashier, my hours were from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., I worked 5 days a week, I was paid what is established by law , in addition to a bonus of $20 per month, I had transportation to my home, as well as dinner, but after 3 months the pandemic arrived and with it the closure of many jobs, and mine was no exception.
Two years ago the pastry shop called me again, which, due to the situation in the country, seemed fine to me since I needed another extra income, they offered me the same salary, but it turns out that this time I was not just a cashier, if the cleaning job was missing, I It was time to do it, in addition to helping the pastry chefs, They even gave me the responsibility of opening and closing the place, which a lot of people said, wow, they have a lot of confidence in you, but I had no impediment in doing it, but as a song by Wilfrido Vargas says "Por la plata baila el mono" (The monkey dances for money).
I worked more hours, 6 days a week, more obligations, for the same pay? I didn't think so, so I plucked up my courage and talked to the person in charge, and raised my points of argument, to which they made the decision to leave me in my cashier position, freeing two days, entering from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., which seemed fine to me, since it would be like at the beginning, and although I still helped in other functions but on my schedule.
Later I found out that even the girl who cleaned 3 days a week earned $15 multiplied by 4 weeks gave $60 monthly and I earned $5 weekly, since $20 between 4 weeks gives a value of $5, and a barista who I worked from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and the other from 1:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. They earned $30 a week, I went back to talk about the case and since I did not find a favorable response, Since they claimed that they could not pay me more, I decided to retire, since this job made me value my time and my preparation, in addition to the fact that I was an excellent worker since I always supported them, but hungry love does not last and nobody works for love to art and less in these times of need.
So far my participation for this week, hoping you are not one of those people who, out of necessity, put up with abuse from employees, it will be until next week. God bless you ππ½π
