Hello, Hivers and awesome people of THE WEEKEND community.
I love the topic of this week's weekend engagement, celebrations. For me, celebrating is more than a party, an event, or a special occasion, it is also to wake up grateful every morning for the opportunity of a new day. If we think for a while, we will discover that we have great reasons to celebrate every day. To give thanks for the good moments we already had and for those to come.
For me, celebrating doesn't mean having a party. Although, I love family gatherings. I grew up in the middle of big family celebrations. Although I have one sister, I grew up surrounded by cousins, aunts, uncles, and family friends. I have many happy childhood memories of family celebrations and holidays.
In recent years, these family celebrations are no longer the same. Some members of the family are no longer with us, my father, some uncles, and aunts have passed away. The country has changed so much in the last years due to the political and economic crisis that many families have been separated. Some of its members have left the country, and my family hasn't escaped this situation. But those of us who are here continue to get together and celebrate when we can.
But back to the weekend engagement. There is a celebration that will always be in my memories. It was a special date for me but it was also a big family celebration. And it may be the last time I remember we were all together.
A weekend to remember - The Wedding
The Inn on our wedding day
For many years, my family has had a small cabin in Merida, one of the Andean states of my country. We used to spend the holidays together there.
And as big pompous parties have never been my favorites. My husband and I decided to celebrate our marriage in Merida surrounded by the mountains and in that place that was so cherished to all of us.

We got married in the church of the nearest town called Mucurubá. Our families and closest friends were with us, some stayed in the cabin and the rest in a nearby Inn where we celebrated the marriage party. Those days were unforgettable for all of us, with lots of food and drinks in between, and moments that we all treasure in our memories.
Everyone enjoyed the preparations and it was like an extended celebration. My aunt had made my dress, a cousin of my mother made the wedding cake, my father's best friend who I love as an uncle sang the Ave Maria at the ceremony. And the most important thing is that we were all together in one place, I think that was the best gift I received those days.

I have many reasons to celebrate in my life. My son, his birthdays, his achievements, and our time together as a family is my best reason to celebrate each day. But I also celebrate the small things, those that every day give me a reason to smile. So let's celebrate every day, after all, life is a celebration.
