I come to Da Lat city to travel, but in my own way, and always tell myself "do what makes me happy". After the sightseeing tours there, instead of going back to the comfortable room to rest, I pursued the need. After a morning of visiting a few famous places in the city, I had lunch in a small restaurant on the hill. Through the window, I saw a beautiful and cool pine hill in front of me, I thought that napping in a hammock there would be interesting and refreshing. In my backpack I carry a personal hammock to make it easy. The part I don't want to return to the hotel with a comfy bed is that I also want to try some other hills to find a spot to camp with my two friends this afternoon. Anyway, more options would be better.
I looked for a few trails in the woods that led up into the hills, whichever path I thought was likely to lead to quiet, low-traffic places. And because the breezes wafting through the pine treetops is a music as enjoyable as howling, it's just as wonderful to enjoy without the background noise. It's sunny but not hot, this high mountain area has a pleasant temperature if not cold due to the wind. The sparse pine forest does not reduce visibility and adds warm rays of the sun, highlighting the color of the trees.
I found a position I found suitable, right at the foot of the cable cars carrying tourists overhead. I think they can also see me below when passing by if they focus. A shady canopy fulfills my simple dream with satisfaction. Hopefully no bears will disturb me while I sleep.
Around 3pm I received a call from my friend to come back and prepare my tools and prepare to go to the planned camping site. We only prepared two tents, led string lights, simple food and fruit, we want to spend more time experience together if we waste time on cooking. Most of the roads in this city through the hills up and down are passes, and the small roads pass through fields of flowers, strawberries, and vegetables. Therefore, motorbikes are an interesting means to enjoy.
The hill we chose is about 16km from the city center to the suburbs, it is called Da Phu hill and is loved by many young people who love camping or families who choose to have a picnic close to nature. At the foot of the hill are glass nurseries, promising to be lit up at night by light effects. We parked the car and hiked along the available trails to the top of the hill, it's not too high but quite steep. We did our best to keep up with the sun in the hope of catching the right sunset at the top of the hill.
Maybe it's the weekend, so a lot of young people are there, and of course the most beautiful and clear views are gone. We had to move halfway down the hill on the other side because we didn't like being disturbed by the bustling sound of camping activities around. They even have powerful portable speakers that look like they're having an outdoor party. I chose a position that was quite satisfying although the sunset view would not be so complete by part of the treetops.
We went for a walk together, looking at the small bunches of newly planted pine trees there, looking at the residential areas below. The sunset also quickly caught up with the warm glow. It would be a pity to see it from a higher and more open position.
We took advantage of dinner quite early and lit a fire to warm up. We have to be very careful because the wind is quite strong and the grass is dry and easy to catch fire, this is the dry season in this area.
Nurseries have also turned on the lights on the flowers they grow to promote their continued growth. However, the Covid epidemic has probably affected the farms a lot, it can be seen that the nurseries have been greatly reduced through the lights obtained. We spend time together talking and telling each other interesting stories that each of us has been through. Thereby also connecting us more together without the excitement of alcoholic.
It was a fun camping trip for me and my friends, not needing too many people and finding joy by pastime games, or singing parties. Look for small and simple happiness.
