Hello everyone, how are you today?
Today is the 5th of my Tet holiday with my family. For those who do not know, Tet holiday is the biggest holiday in Vietnam, it is also considered a family reunion event. Traditionally, we will spend the first day of the lunar new year with our father's family, while we will spend the 2nd day with our mother's family and we will spend the 3rd day with our teachers and friends. . Today is the 5th which is the last day of Tet holiday, most of us will start working again next Monday. So my uncle decided to have a fish catch in his pond for a farewell party before we leave our hometown for work.
Okay follow me to discover how we fish in the pond. My uncle started fishing quite early, around 5am. Well, it's pretty early for me, but most people in my hometown wake up at that time or even earlier. My uncle explained that although it was quite cold to wade into the water at that hour, it was the best time because the sun would rise very quickly and it would be very sunny, besides at that time the water was still not very clear so it's easier to catch fish.
My uncle and cousins used a fairly large net to catch the fish. They asked me if I wanted to join them, but I declined because the water was quite cold for me. So I prefer to watch them. I know that catching fish in a pond is not easy. They really have to have tactics and experience. Before the fishing took place, they waded around the lake to pick up branches that could become obstacles in the process of casting the net. At the same time, they also tried to make the water in the pond more opaque to limit the visibility of the fish so that they could not see the net. Then the two of them pulled the two ends of the net, while the other two walked in the middle to make sure the fish didn't get through the net. Really the four of them had to work together strategically.
It's been a really long time since I've seen such fishing. This is the scene that I have seen since I was a child. My uncle and cousins really had a fight with 8-10kg fish. One of my cousins was even hit by a fish, he even fell on his back in the water.
Even though, they had raised the net quite high, but the fish still flew high through the net, it was interesting to see that scene. They finally caught a pretty big fish for our farewell party.
It's been a long time since I had a chance to watch the fishing scene in my hometown, which has helped me relive my childhood memories. I hope you enjoy this too. Thank you for reading my post and have a great weekend!
