This past weekend has been really amazing, I had such a long time without enjoying one like this, we got out of the routine and we connected as a family, surrounded by a very quiet and picturesque natural environment. The birthday of my niece and goddaughter Camila, took us to Mucuy , a small town in Merida, full of dreamy landscapes, a rich climate, very friendly and hardworking people.
The Mucuy is one of the first towns we found on the Trans-Andean Highway, a very well known road, not only because it communicates the state with the plains and western Venezuela, but also because it is a tourist route thanks to its beautiful landscapes, its cold climate and for being part of the Sierra Nevada National Park.
Welcome to the Mucuy Lower Part
This Saturday dawned sunny, the day was ideal to go out, all week it had been raining in the mornings, I was worried that this day would not be the exception, but the weather was in our favor. We left home my husband, my nephew, my son and I, around 10 am, the rest of the family was already waiting for us at the house of the grandmother of the little birthday girl. To get to the Mucuy from our home we have to take two bus routes, so the kids couldn't be happier because they really enjoy traveling by bus.
Around 1 pm, we arrived at our destination, from there we started walking, the house where the party would be held is on top of a hill, the path to get there is quite steep, full of big trees and dirt roads, some sections were full of mud, products of the rain. I love to visit places like this, when I connect with nature it is as if they take away the chip of the worries and the overwhelming daily routine and I start to relax immediately, trying to enjoy every moment and immortalize them through a photograph.
Beginning of the trail
After walking a few minutes we arrived at the site, the kids were very happy, because they had enough space to run and play, plus my son loves to see the animals. The house was decorated with Minie's theme, they did a great job with the decoration and the best of all was to see the smiles of the children. They welcomed us with a delicious lunch (rice, stewed meat and plantains) a delight.
We rested for a while and took the opportunity to catch up and help with some party preparations, while the kids were running around.
After a while the guests began to arrive, it was very good to meet the family again, we had not seen them for a long time, as a consequence of the confinement, in the atmosphere, joy reigned with the illusion of the children and everything was very nice and the snacks were tasty, when a couple of clowns arrived to entertain and cheer up the children, everything became more fun, as my child is still small, I helped him in the games and I had a lot of fun. I didn't manage to win a prize for my son, but we enjoyed the moment a lot, which is the most important thing.
They broke the cake when it was getting dark, that cake not only looked good, it was delicious, that combination of chocolate and vanilla was just what we needed to start a night walk that would take us to the house of one of my husband's uncles, where there is also a beautiful inn.
The Reunited Family
The road was very dark, it was not possible to get a good picture, because the fog was also very thick, we could not see anything, we walked about an hour and I honestly had my tongue tied, the good thing is that we were with good company and so the stretch is shorter between conversation and conversation.
We arrived at the inn of the uncles and the boy just wanted to sleep and well, we were also exhausted, so we said goodbye to Saturday with an Andean arepa with smoked cheese and hot milk, which made us sleep like babies.
My son walking around the inn
Sunday morning, we jumped out of bed very early, because we had to return home, but first we wanted to take advantage of a couple of hours of our stay there, the breakfast was delicious, arepitas with avocado, I love avocado and it had been a while since I tried some as tasty as this. My son, was excited and wanted to know, so we started to walk around the house and its surroundings.
The inn is very nice and cozy, the place is very calm and quiet, ideal to spend a few days away from the hustle and bustle of city life, places like this reboot you and recharge you with energy, being here is to receive a breath of fresh air, I felt the peace I needed, I just wished that the weekend would not end. I found a flower that caught my attention, actually I don't remember having seen one like it.
My discovery of the weekend. If you know its name please leave it in a comment.
We spent some time admiring the family's wood craftsmanship. This area is full of artisans who do an incredible job with their hands, they have an incredible talent, I took the opportunity to tell them about Hive and they were quite interested. Maybe, I will come back soon and show them in detail this wonderful world.
Wood Crafts.
On our walk my son found a small swing improvised with wood, he just didn't want to get off it, but after begging him for quite a while, we got ready and started our walk on the way home.
Going down, even the stones roll, they say a lot around here, so it was a very pleasant walk, it took about half an hour, the Mucuy is a beautiful town, where culture, crafts, agriculture, livestock and tourism are promoted. Along the way, we met some people and everyone greeted us with great cordiality.
Return hike
We arrived at the bus stop and took a bus that would take us to Merida downtown, a few minutes later we felt a big impact, which took us by surprise and scared us a little, a car hit the back of the bus when it was dropping off some passengers. Fortunately, no one was hurt, but both the bus and the car suffered considerable damage. I am very thankful, because everyone was unharmed, but it could have been worse, both were reckless, the drivers of the car were drunk, they were driving at high speed and the bus driver stopped at a place that is not a regular stop. We had to transfer to another bus and continue on our way, thankful that it was only a scare.
And since after a scare it is good to treat yourself, before taking the other bus home, we enjoyed a delicious pizza in the center of the city of Merida.
Yummi Yummi
This weekend was definitely different, we celebrated life, reconnected with family, friends, enjoyed nature and came home recharged with energy to get back to the routine and very grateful for life.
It was a pleasure to share my weekend experience with you. I hope to have many weekends like this, but free of dangerous incidents on the road.
Greetings to all.
