This Story Was Inspired By My Curiosity In The Mystries Of Life In Space. Always Wondered If Life Existed Outside Earth.
I got into the space ship, fastened my seatbelt and waited for take off. We were on a mission to retrieve the black box of a space ship that crashed in space. The cause of the wreck was yet to be known. Hopefully the black box would help to unravel the mystery.
After takeoff, in no time we were in space next to the shipwreck. I got off the ship, floating slowly I got to the wreck. Strangely the bodies of the crew involved in the crash was never found. The interior of the ship was unscratched, it wasn't looking like a ship that experienced a crash.
I got the black box we came for and floated back to the spaceship. As we were about to take off, we heard a loud bang on our ship from outside.
"What was that?" We all asked curiously.
"I can't see anything from our rear cameras." The pilot announced.
He attempted to lift the ship for takeoff, but the engine wasn't responding.
"A certain force is pulling us down, keeping us from moving."
"I'll go check it out from outside." Jack volunteered.
Few minutes later we heard his voice through the coms.
"Everything Seems fine out here. Try starting the engines once more."
The pilot started the engine and this time it responded. Jack was yet to get into the ship when the ship was lifted with force and started to Summersault in space.
"Pilot what is going on? Apply brake or something."
"It's not me doing this, I have no control of the ship." The pilot replied.
The Ship tumbled for several minutes and finally seemed to come to rest.
"Turn this thing around let's go back for Jack!" I said
"First we have to figure out where we are."
The pilot said as he showed us the view from the rear cameras. We were in a strange place, our ship was surrounded with rocky and thorny objects. We Were definitely not on earth. Probably on A different planet.
"Call this in immediately. A team should be sent to get Jack, he wouldn't survive out there for long. Also another team should be sent to help us get out of here." Mark said to the pilot.
"We have been instructed to Sit tight as a team would be sent for us soon." The pilot announced.
That was relieving because I wasn't comfortable sitting in the middle of an unknown planet. We waited for almost two hours and we were yet to see any Rescue ship.
"Don't you think we should explore this strange planet while we wait for help." I asked out of curiosity.
"That is risky, you have no idea if the atmosphere is safe for humans."
"My suit should keep me safe."
"Why Would you want to take such risk?" Mark asked
"I have always been curious about the mystery surrounding space and planets. I have always wanted to know If their was life outside earth."
"You have a point here, perhaps we might make a great discovery here that will be remembered in history forever. I'm with you on this." Mark replied.
"You both go ahead, I'll be here looking out for the rescue ship." The pilot replied.
"You Better don't leave here without us." I said jokingly.
"Well you both better don't get lost."
We stepped out of the ship, in search of any sign of life to satisfy my curiosity. As far as the eye could see, there was nothing but space and red particles floating in the air. I doubt if any life can survive here. We were few kilometers away from the spaceship when we heard a growling sound.
"Did you hear that?" Mark asked.
"Yeah I did. Could it be that certain animals can survive here."
We moved forward towards the direction of the sound, but we couldn't see the source of the noise. Just then we saw a huge sand storm coming from the North.
"We better head back for the ship." Mark said.
"Hold on mark. We are on the brink of making history, give me a few minutes to find the animal making that sound."
"We have to get out of here right now."
I looked up and saw the size of the sandstorm and gasped in fear. I abandoned my quest and we both ran as fast as we could towards the ship. The storm was fast approaching. Moving much faster the closer it came. I looked up and realized that we were never going to make it.
"I'll never make it to my son's birthday."
Those were my last words, as the storm swallowed us tossing us in separate directions. My eyes Closed slowly. The next time my eyes opened there was A young boy over my face screaming.
"Dad! Dad wake up!!"
Oh that was my son.
"Son, what's wrong."
"You were screaming in your sleep and I got scared."
I hugged him saying.
"It's OK son. I just had a terrible dream. Happy birthday to you son."
