The past they say is gone, but sometimes we just have to reminisce and with this week's topic by it really needs a lot of thinking and writing about the past. I will be writing on
Confront, report or ignore
While I was still teaching in a primary school year 2021. We had this cleaner and her son was a pupil there too, you can hardly know she is a cleaner and her dressing is much more sophisticated than the teachers, our salary is just #2,000 above hers, compared to other schools she will not get such amount, she usually buy things above her source of livelihood.
Anytime they discuss about her I just smile and look away, she was the friendly type and I had no issues with her plus I don't want to be caught discussing during work hours, our headmistress is a no nonsense woman if she sees you talking with other teachers during working hours the way she will react will make you feel embarrassed.
This cleaner comes to my class to sweep when it is break time, I was the class teacher for Nur1, they are still young and there is possibility some of them will pour food on the floor. When she is done sweeping she will gist with me, silently though 😁, sometimes she gives me her phone to help her operate it.
I got used to her and when I want to go out after work I do tell her, so this particular day, I wanted to buy detergents and I informed her, she told me she needed to buy some cleaning agents too which is for the school that when am leaving I should let her know. We set out together.
When we got to the supermarket I bought what I wanted to buy and she bought hers too, but I noticed she didn't buy all the things on the list that she wrote, she collected change and we left.
The next day I heard the HM asking for change she said she already used it to buy all the cleaning agents, my class is upstairs and the first class in the building, when she is back from an errand, she will tell me to help her hold her change, other times she will drop her food which she just bought, I became suspicious and I can't keep it again. I confronted her, she denied at first then I reminded her about the first day at the supermarket.
She apologized and said she uses the money for her children especially when her husband delays in sending their feeding allowance. I didn't report her because she promised not to do it again.
Although it is not a company, but the experience I had then relates with a worker stealing from where they work.
