It’s a pleasure to greet you all again, dear Hivers; this weekend’s challenge is closely linked to our journey.
Today I’ve chosen:
Have you ever had to deal with a power cut? How does this affect your life and how do you manage to cope with it?
Well, I think every Venezuelan has had to face this major dilemma at some point in their lives: there’s no power, how long will it last?.. What shall we do with the food in the fridge?😬
Among other questions that weigh on our daily routine, the power going off causes stress, boredom and uncertainty, as unfortunately our lives are guided by the use of social media in general; without our phone switched on, we can’t get anything done.
I believe that in the darkness, the negative is hidden, so I’m in favour of using candles in strategic places, away from plastics and gas cylinders, of course.
To cope with this issue, which always flares up and drags on because it happens so often and they give no explanation whatsoever for these outages.
We mustn’t give in to despair, because more than one person needs it first and foremost to get things sorted—be it the next day’s food, clothes, schoolwork, or even small business owners who have to halt their sales due to the lack of service.
We must accept that everything has its time, that everything happens for a reason.
And the irony of life is this: firstly, any Venezuelan who can’t see the funny side of the situation isn’t a true countryman.
Whilst some lament, others are making the best of the situation.
Anything is possible if our minds are willing to cope with things, seeking out tools such as candles, gas lamps or simply torches, and accepting that instead of rushing about so much, we need to rest and take each day as it comes.
A moment for reflection:
Life is the miracle of existence, the desire to smile, the patience to wait, the strength to love and the humility to be grateful...
See you another time.
I used Canva and the DeepL translator as my language is Spanish.
Have a good week.
