Hello friends!
This is my first post from this community and today I want to share with you my thoughts about this phrase as full of years as of truth and reason.
Thucydides
We are made internally of "Attachment". We live attached to the things that "we have achieved with effort"; to those that "bring us memories", to all those things that we possess and have a high price in the market. We live attached to people who, although we have not stated it verbally, internally we have decided are irreplaceable and extremely vital for us.
We want to be happy and we live putting emotional obstacles in our way that take us farther and farther away from our goal. We love freedom, we say, but we dedicate time to create bigger and stronger ties between what we possess and ourselves as the only option to reach our freedom.
I feel that happiness is subsumed to a decision making which implies having the courage to put aside many things that we have placed in a very important position and granted a very large space in our life.
Today I was talking to my daughter, who is currently out of the country, and she was telling me that right now she is realizing that all the radical decisions she had to make, including leaving home, to build her dream although they were very hard at the time, are now bearing fruit. I felt her full, I heard her happy.

With what I have stated above I do not mean that we should stop valuing or taking care of what we have, nor that we should leave those we love, because we would be attacking ourselves, what I do mean is that we should not let attachment limit us from reaching what really fulfills us.
We need to build our freedom day by day. Life itself has shown me that there are many things I could live without, even though sometimes it is hard for me to make decisions about them.
I feel that the basis of happiness is in the will to be free.
