Life is full of times when we feel good and times when we feel bad, and our emotions are a reflection of how we experience each day. As we better understand the things that make us feel good and the things that make us feel bad we can better understand our own emotions and find ways to live more fully.
Answer each of the following - What motivates you? What demotivates you? What gets you excited? What relaxes you?
Motivation is the impulse that moves us to move forward. I feel motivated when I have a desire or a goal to achieve. I also see it as a deeply personal stimulus because I strive to do well at work that I know will be well rewarded. I find motivation mainly in being independent from my parents and my family in general. I am also motivated by going for walks, especially in nature, where the fresh air and beautiful scenery fill me with energy. Watching a good movie or exploring new topics while conversing with others feeds my curiosity and creativity. Music and dance are my emotional fuel, transforming my mood and giving me the strength to keep going. I am also motivated to draw and donate my creations to the polyclinic where my mom works, where I know the children can develop their language through the illustrations I create for them.
As for demotivation, I have learned that it should not be a permanent state. Sometimes, I find myself sad when things don't go as I expected, but I have developed the ability to quickly recognize this feeling and act accordingly. Instead of getting stuck in the blues, I seek out activities that cheer me up, such as listening to my favorite songs, dancing with enthusiasm, or going out to enjoy a delicious pizza. Over time, I've come to realize that sadness is just a passing moment and not worth holding on to. Instead, I choose to focus on the things that make me happy, which helps me quickly regain my emotional balance.
It's the little things in life that really excite me. Spending time with family and friends, receiving loving letters and poems, and caring for animals are experiences that fill my heart with joy. I am also excited to travel and see new places. A simple hug, a shared joke or a romantic moment with someone special are the connections that give meaning to my life. These human interactions are the true treasure, a constant reminder that love and friendship are what really matter.
Relaxation is equally essential to my well-being. I find peace in simple activities, such as swimming at a beach, where the cool water envelops me and frees me from worries. Enjoying a cold pina colada or a Bucanero malt on a sunny day, or simply laughing and playing with animals like the dog, are moments that fill me with happiness. Being outdoors, under the shade of a tree while there is a gentle breeze, helps me to disconnect and enjoy the present. Knowing that the people I love are well and happy is really reassuring for me.
In the end, any kind of emotion is an integral part of our lives as human beings. I think learning to manage them and finding joy in the little things can transform our personal perspective for a fuller and more meaningful life.
