What are your thoughts on nudists and naturism? Have you ever done it, would you and if so why, and if not why not?
Nudism and naturism are not the same concept, although some people believe otherwise. I'll explain briefly:
Nudists are people who have no complexes, shame or fears. That is, this practice is limited to a certain group of people, in specific places.
There are places where you are not allowed to enter in shorts, so imagine yourself naked. π
Nudism is an unusual practice in my country. It is not practiced among Cubans, as this could be considered provocative for people. However, foreigners who come to Cuba, do it in some famous keys of the island.
In Varadero I have seen some foreign women without their bikini tops.
Also society has certain norms that it does not accept and sometimes criticizes these behaviors. Many people do not like it, because they consider their body as something private. Older people believe that in the past there was more naivety about this issue, as people used to dress more demurely and only showed their nudity at the time of marriage, which created a certain expectation or motivation towards the intimate couple relationship. However, the main objective of nudist activity is precisely to forget about society and accept one's own body.
I have never done nudism. However, I think that walking around naked would be more comfortable, especially in the heat of Cuba (This is only inside my house). But on the beach I like to wear a bikini.
Naturism, on the other hand, is a way of looking at life, using nudism in order to be at ease with oneself, others and the environment. For naturists, nudity is simply a phase of being in harmony with nature. A naturist may or may not be without clothes, depending on his choice or the moment. In Cuba, there have been naturists, for example in Guanabacoa, where their settlement was in a place apart from the rest of society ( I have pictures of the place I am talking about here with its brief geological history in case you are interested: @estilodereba/the-naturists-a-natural-environment) . I do not know if they still exist in other parts of the country, perhaps as isolated groups. What they do exist here (Cuba) are vegetarians, although it is not a generalized practice. I think that being a naturist is a beautiful movement, composed of very intelligent and good people. However, I don't think I could be a naturist, just for the sake of going vegan. I would have to have a lot of willpower for that. I like meat!
The most interesting thing about this subject, in my opinion, is how, despite having advanced as a society by leaving the primitive community and developing technologically, there are still people who feel the need to return to the origins, when the lifestyle was simpler. It is natural for this to happen. I see it every day when I talk to other girls who have had their hair treated with keratin or colored hair dyes other than their own, and they express their desire to go back to the natural to feel more comfortable with themselves.
Anyway, being nudist or naturist depends on the personal criteria of each one. You have to have an open mind (be European, as they say in my country). What is important is the fact of respecting each one, depending on their choice, because if in some parts of the world the subject that I address is strange, in other parts of the world, it is something normal.
