This is my story for the [WE112] Weekend-Engagement concept by
Nickname given or received (Prompt-2)
Do you have a nickname or pet name given to you by someone else? What is it and why were you given it? Or, have you given someone else a nickname that stuck What is it and how did they earn it?
In our country, about 95 per cent of children are given some nickname as soon as they are born. And the reasons for giving names are also justified, examples are many, but I would like to give some examples, such as lovi if you have a cute child, black if you are Kalu, blonde is if you are bhura, if born on sunday then ravi, monday If born on som, born on Tuesday then mangal, born on Wednesday then budhdhu, are given similar names. If a child is innocent, then he is given names like Pappu, Munna, Munni, Choti, Gullu, etc.
When I was born, I was also given the name Pappu (Nick name), this name was very common, in those days if many children used to stand together, and someone gave voice that Pappu come here, then at least 5- 6 Pappu was attracted to hear that voice and used to reach there.
Then when I grew up, my real name was called only family members and very special friends called me by my nick name Pappu . Then after the passage of time, when I came to the job, the name was not even called, I was known only by surname, like some used to say mr Goel, some used to say Goel sir, some used to say Goel boss. Now hardly anyone would address this old nickname Pappu.
After a long time, one day while I was passing through the market, someone called from behind, Pappu, it was a natural process for me to look back, but I did not see any recognized person behind me, I started moving forward, then a woman shouldered me from behind. But she stopped by holding her hand and said you are Pappu aren't you?
I was very surprised that who is this woman who knows by my childhood Nickname. I just asked her who are you madam, I am sorry that I do not recognize you. She smiled very softly and told me that she was my class mate in our childhood and her name is Ritu. Suddenly the thought of my childhood classmate Ritu flashed in my mind. But there was a lot of difference between Ritu's appearance at that time and today's face and the ground and sky in her shape, that's why I could not recognize her. But as soon as she told that she was Ritu, we both hugged, and I went and sat with her in the nearby coffee shop. Now I asked her how are you, Motu, what are you doing nowadays, where do you live, whether you got married or not, etc?
She was very fat in childhood, so me and some of my friends used to call her Motu (Fat), and she used to get very annoyed by this name, and we used to fight. But today she was looking so slim and very happy to hear Motu from my mouth and said that she had fun after a long time, after hearing Motu from your mouth, she remembered her childhood.
Hey you all friends used to call me motu, that's why I grew up doing a lot of workouts and sweating in the gym, only then I was able to get lean, your given nickname Motu changed my body and entire life . I told her that the same is the case with me, I too was longing to hear my childhood nickname.
We talked a lot amongst ourselves, had coffee and then Ritu left by giving her mobile number and address.
